Yes - and the 'expert' that is Matt Lawrence said that we had too much deadwood and a losing mentality without naming any of the 'deadwood'. I think most pundits are incredibly lazy but also really don't want us to do well.

Yes, and Newcastle don't have any similar problems and were just really unlucky to get relegated.

What a snidey twat Franks is. Talking about the Wolves potentially signing Peter Crouch. "And remember Villa let him go go far too cheaply".  Can't help himself can he?

I listened for about 10 mins last night on drive back home. He was responding to a caller or texter who said still too many players from last season and losing mentality. Franksy was saying how he'd done well to recoup 5m on Clark and 7m on Gana and then what 4m on Sinclair - but he came of the bench to score the winner yesterday for Celtic. Implicitly suggesting he would have done the same for us.

Fucking Prick

Hard to deny that we have / had a lot of deadwood and a losing mentality though. The same view was held widely on here last season. Newcastle have problems but they were a lot closer to staying up last year than us.

I think the thing they're missing is that the turnaround we are in the process of making is a lot more substantial than Newcastle's. They've lost their best players and have replaced with solid players. We haven't really lost anyone important, possibly except Gana, and have strengthened, and allegedly more to come.

I think thats a fair point.

I don't think the defeat on Sunday was down to the inherent mental weakness we had last season. Heck, on balance we were the better side and managed to turn the screw for substantial periods of the second half.

We looked a lot better than Newcastle in the process.

Paul the nose slipping as he only used 17 "you know"s tonight. (I know it's sad but counting them while walking my dogs really made me laugh)
He did come out with another gem though saying "I wanted to get on to talk about Sam Allardyce. It's about time we had an English manager" err hello, Roy Hodgson, Paul?

Unfortunately I was listening to that on the drive home and was going to post about this very same idiot with how many "ya knows" he says...I've never heard anything like it in my life ya know. We should have a guess how many "ya knows" competition he can say in his next rant without pausing for breath.

Baggie following Villa obsessive Adrian Goldberg's jolly jape on the breakfast show this morning was getting listeners to send in suggestions for "things that have happened since Villa last won a game."

It wouldn't be so bad if they'd won anything since man first walked on the moon.

Goldberg is a terrible presenter. He was 2 years above me at school and part of a bitter Baggie supporting clique who could not cope with our success when both teams were doing well late 70s early 80s.

He just can't get over it.

An Albion fan at work has been giving me grief these last 12 months. The gift that keeps giving as he says. My retort is that, in my lifetime alone, they have had 40 years plus of us being continually better than them so the odd season or so when roles are reversed is just a short term change. Our class and quality is permanant and will rise again very soon.

Despite it being a few weeks ago, I've noticed the advert for his show is still him breaking the news and a few snippets about the takeover at Albion.
