Some decent words from the dippersQuoteGlad we got the 3 points. But boy is that Villa team relentless. They do not tire out there. Stevie and Lucas were gasping for air at the end and they kept coming at us. Love Mignolet.QuoteWhat a fucking relief. We were fucking battered the last 55 minutes of the game or so. QuoteAlso going to add that Villa will beat a fair few teams this season, they are big, powerful and good on the break. We didn't make it hard work, Villa are a good side and gave us a game. They thrashed Arsenal and were robbed of a draw against Chelsea so I think we should put the hard second half into context.QuoteAnd villa were good, especially Delph. And then I got bored of reading Welsh.

Brendan Rogers' post-match comments are not far from classic Pulis. Paraphrasing 'We nicked one on the break, then we sat back, they came on strong, we held out'. Not exactly a confident outfit and a less naive, mature version of this Villa team would have had them.

A game to many within 7 days for some yesterday, tired legs and minds. This magical number 10, is fine if players around him move off the ball, yesterday plenty of ours did not, we have to press from minute one without the ball , when we do have the ball we have to give options, the amount of times the defence and a midfielder had to go across the pitch, even in the second half when we stepped up a bit, lack of movement. We need to be able to adapt the play especially at home as plenty will come and park the bus this year.Andi and Benteke yesterday were nullified, Gabby gave it loads of effort, but his best work was done in areas that are never going to hurt teams, by being the one with some movement out of the forwards but far to deep at times. A couple of weeks to either work with what we have and get better or add a bit of finished ability, not just promise. Still feel this team has got so much yet to give and the ride is going to be different that's for sure.
Brad Guzan insists Villa have taken huge strides forward.Guzan was anything but downbeat on the final whistle as he reflected on the 1-0 defeat to the Reds.Villa's No.1 doesn't like losing but he was positive about the team's chances of success this term, after they showed character and class in abundance against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. He told AVTV: "We knew on paper the fixture list this week was going to be difficult for us."But the work ethic has been unbelievable - in training and in all three games."The shift the boys put in against Liverpool was second to none so it was a unfortunate to come up a bit short."To come out on the losing side is not a good feeling but if you look at where this club has come in the last 12 months, it's huge strides."To put that kind of performance in, especially in the second half? I thought we were phenomenal after the break."To come away with nothing, it leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth."But we know we have put in three really, really good performances."Yes the result wasn't there against Chelsea or Liverpool. But when you put together performances like we have, we will win more games than not."So for us it's just a matter of continuing to fight on."We know it's early in the season - there are a lot of games to come - but if we put in these performances, good things are going to come."Guzan paid tribute to his opposite number Simon Mignolet, who kept the Reds in the game after the break with several fine saves. He added: "I wouldn't say it was an easy day at the office for me but it wasn't a busy one."Simon is a good goalkeeper and unfortunately for us, he's pulled one or two good saves out of the bag and kept a clean sheet."On another day one of those goes in and we get a d
