Totally agree john2710, especially against a team like Liverpool who always play 3 in the centre and are strong there

I hate losing our undefeated home record on the first day of the season. It pisses me off that Villa Park hasn't been a fortress in many a year as I love the intimidation factor of being able to beat anybody at home and I think it lifts confidence if 35,000 Villa fans see us win rather than 2500 of us in the away end.

I don't think that Steven Gerrard has ever lost at Villa Park - that pisses me off. As does the fact that Liverpool see our ground in the way that Man You and Arsenal do ( and Spurs and Man City are moving that way too).

Don't think we have had an unbeaten season at home in my lifetime. Just one would make me very happy......

Winning 2 in a row will do me!

In a couple of months Liverpool will be thankful they caught us before we'd properly warmed up.

I'd have to disagree, I think Liverpool will improve over the season.
I believe we will have a decent first half, maybe even a little more, but fatigue will set in latter part of season.
We will get very tired and lacklustre, we play a very hi tempo, energetic up and at em type of football, no way will the boys be able to reproduce every game.

Our weakest performance of the three so far, it always seemed likely that if they scored first they would win as they are one of best teams at closing down a game away from home and we do sometimes crumble against good footballing sides when playing in front of our fans.

Don't know why people are getting so upset me and a few others said this would be a tough fixture.  Liverpool are a top six or five club at least, we are mid-table at best.

There are positive signs from the first three games, and the big games for us are against the likes of Fulham and in the Cups.  Progress has been made and I think we will have a good season.

It seemed to be one of those games where we could have plugged away all night but we wouldn't have scored. Between uninspired, slightly rushed attacking play, to their keeper on top form, it was a tough game.

Much as I hate Liverpool, I do like Rodgers and he's going to do well for them. Things are clicking. If anything they've actually improved as a team while Suarez has been out too. Sturridge and Coutinho have stepped up. Gerrard has re-invented himself too. They're gonna push Arsenal.

If you look at Liverpool they've worked hard for a couple of 1-0 wins. They ground them out. They did dominate Stoke but almost slipped up because they couldn't put them to bed.
Still. Two hard games. Two wins.
It'll be interesting to see if they can keep that sort of consistency against the teams below the top 4-5.

What, you mean a much-maligned and decent player who was scapegoated because it was oh-so-clever to make amusing plays on his name?

Does anyone else not understand these post match 'stat facts' ?

Every paper/news outlet seems to have one that differs from the next one. How hard can it be to be accurate about shots on target for example ?

One had us down as having 9 shots ON target on Saturday, I scratched my head and came up with 3. Then lo and behold tonights E&S also lists it as 3

Who's making them up ?

Arguably worth keeping your own stats as they vary so much . At least corners and shots on target.
Possession more difficult of Course.
