Tough game, some people making out this will be easy but far from it

Villa 2-1 Bin Dippers
Gabby (31)  Sturridge (23)
Benteke (56)

Agreed.  Liverpool are starting to find their feet under Rodgers and I think it being at home makes it more tricky than if we were playing at their place.

As for the team I would make two changes from last nights game, if Clark's fitness is a bit iffy I would go with Okore to partner Vlaar at the back.  In midfeld I would give Ireland his first start a head of El Ahmadi who just think is a bit light weight and drifts through games. If Ireland is at it I see him as a better option to sit deep and be a ball player making the odd runs forward.

1-1

Sturridge 24 Mins
Weinmann 61 Mins
Please tell me your joking re:Ireland!
No I think when he started played towards the end of last season he started to show signs of his past form.  Long term I see maybe Sylla ahead of him, but for now I think Ireland is worth giving a go.

Ireland didn't play after Bradford fiasco, and deservedly so and didn't even make to the bench after Newcastle game.
Well I still think at the moment he would be worth a go.  Early season is the time when the manager maybe has a look at a few different players before settling on his preferred choices.  We do look a bit light in midfield for me.
I'm totally lost now. Might check my water bottle in case it's vodka.

Well I am pleased I could cause such amusement for you guys ;)

On a serious note apart from Depth wouldn't you say we look a bit suspect in midfield?  When Sylla is fit I see him being a long term fixture there and think he could become a very good player,  but right now I don't see the big issue with giving someone like Ireland a go.

Your right when you refer to 'the big issue' part. I agree, Ireland should definately be given a go selling the big issue somewhere

Fine but when he scores a hat-trick you will all be eating humble pie!  Does it have to be in the right end to prove my point?

I'd start with the team that finished against chelski, Okore and tonev look mighty good.
I have this horrible feeling those hub cap stealing scousers are going to get a win, they always seem to play well at VP.

I'm hoping the boys are not just expecting a win and for Liverpool to be a push over, because they won't.

I'll go with a ...............Villa 3 Scousers 2, (Weimann 2, Vlaar 1)

Need to make VP a fortress, need to start this Saturday.

It will never be a fortress IMO just isn't that sort of ground.  Big teams or good footballing sides enjoy playing there and small teams enjoy making life difficult for us there.  Still it would be good to have a better home record this time than in recent.  A winning start would be good.  I see Villa Park being more of a fortress on cup nights.

Ireland. Starts off Ok; finds a pitch and sells a few. Then gets told to do one by a couple of posh blokes in suits and wanders off a bit. Makes a bit of an effort and tries to sell one, but then puts the papers down and has a fag. Seems more interested in petting his dog. Draws a nice pattern on the pavement in front of his doorway, lights another fag. Seems to have forgotten what the papers are for. Falls asleep.
Can't we just tuck a P45 in his pocket and forget all about him?

I reckon we can win this, but I think it'll be a 0-0 in a game we were unlucky not to win.

Villa in a goalless draw? You mad man. It will be a draw alright, 6-6 though.

Liverpool are a top half side, not a top four side. 2-1 Villa, with Gabby and Weimann getting their first goals of the season.

Has any team gone thro' a season without a 0-0 draw ?

If not, Villa could do it this year

When making your predictions for this game, please take into account the fact that Legion will be present.

3-1 villa win , the air of confidence flowing through the team and a big home crowd will see us off to a flying start , Liverpool without Suarez are nothing to worry too much about - a win will set us nicely in the table and keep momentum .
