Play anything like the first two games and we'll win this.

2:0 Villa

Sold out on the Official site seat finder thingy, can't wait.

First game for over a year for me so hoping for a good win. Rightly or wrongly I'm feeling pretty confident. If we were going to have a  back to earth with a bump game after the arse result it should have been at stamford bridge against a confident chelsea.

I think we have every chance of winning but no sure how we will be playing at home in front of an expectant crowd. And Gerrard always seems to play a blinder against us or manage to con the ref in a way that really hurts us. Draw at the very least, 2-2 with Liverpool being a bit flukey.

But do we have the defence?

Ignorance of defending is no defence

One thing though - I'd like to see us pass the ball more at home, and see Guzan play it short when he has it and punt it forward less. Liverpool aren't as good as Arsenal and aren't as good as Chelsea, and we're at home not at difficult away games. We can pass the ball out from the back and we can do it well, and I'd like to see it more.

Tough game, some people making out this will be easy but far from it

Villa 2-1 Bin Dippers
Gabby (31)  Sturridge (23)
Benteke (56)

Agreed.  Liverpool are starting to find their feet under Rodgers and I think it being at home makes it more tricky than if we were playing at their place.

As for the team I would make two changes from last nights game, if Clark's fitness is a bit iffy I would go with Okore to partner Vlaar at the back.  In midfeld I would give Ireland his first start a head of El Ahmadi who just think is a bit light weight and drifts through games. If Ireland is at it I see him as a better option to sit deep and be a ball player making the odd runs forward.

1-1

Sturridge 24 Mins
Weinmann 61 Mins

No I think when he started played towards the end of last season he started to show signs of his past form.  Long term I see maybe Sylla ahead of him, but for now I think Ireland is worth giving a go.

I went for a Villa win, but not getting too carried away.  This is a very different test as we've played two teams who will finish above us away, so could play on the break.  Here we're at home to a side likely to be much closer to us in the league, so it's a different type of challenge.

Ireland didn't play after Bradford fiasco, and deservedly so and didn't even make to the bench after Newcastle game.

This I do think is true, it being at home makes a difference but I do think it is team we can look to get on the front foot against early and maybe go for the early goal.  If it becomes a tight game, and stays goaless for a long spell I think it favours them a bit more.

Well I still think at the moment he would be worth a go.  Early season is the time when the manager maybe has a look at a few different players before settling on his preferred choices.  We do look a bit light in midfield for me.

My fear is that we'll go into this one expecting to win after the first two performances. Liverpool still have a lot of dangerous players and area a bit of an unknown in terms of their line-up and formation. Don't forget, they're bound to have improved form last season simply by having sold Steward Downing.

If we show the application and quality that we have in our first 2 games then we're capable of getting a win. That said, if we were to draw, I think 4 points from the first 3 games is still a decent return.
