Thing is this won't be put to bed until we now know exactly what happened. It appears that a medical was arranged and that he chose to pull out of the deal. The reason, and the questions he'll be asked is why? Did he lack the ambition? The belief that he was anything more than a bench warmer? Why put the clause in then> Is there a clause? Any caveats around the clause? Did he just want to stay at Villa? Why? Because of the video? Settled and happy family man? Wife, 1 young kid and another on its way and just wanted to put down firm roots? he seems happy at Villa and settled. Maybe the 8m clause was put in there in case he got the offer so that he could decide what to do with his career - it came but his and his family's happiness came first and maybe he decided he really didn't want to upsticks.

Does it really matter?

If he did indeed do a u-turn, it may just be that the prospect of spending 3 or 4 years alternating between City's subs bench and being loaned out to middling clubs is not what he's after. He should have just asked Scott Sinclair what that was like. As for Man City, home grown quota filler was all they were after.

They won't ask it; they'll move on to their next exclusive. He's staying and that's all there is to it.

At least the Mirror named their source, a Mr A Source. Clever bloke, him, knows loads about loads.

It's because he can't go to Shahi Nan Kebab in Manchester.

Apparently Rodney Marsh said he changed his mind after clearly being told that he would not make any starts and if selected will be on the bench but he said he would love to hear it from Delph as to why he changed his mind? Make what you like of that!

Rodney Marsh is a complete idiot. Yes I am sure Pellegrini told him clearly that  he would be coming in only to make up the squad numbers.

Could do but at this time of year when there is little else to talk about I think they'll look for an answer. Also, who was the last player to turn down a Champions League team? Especially at the 11th hour? Its odd. I agree that it'll blow over quickly but I think it won't go away just yet.

WM broke the story of the medical didn't they? They and the Mail will want to know the reason for him staying for a start.

I doubt delph was ever going in first place but this not getting game time is easy news story another day its 'they need more English players' plus marsh is some old guy not involved with premier league footy lives in states has no knowledge and out of touch. The guy always has to say in my opinion. Well its a worthless one in that case haha

In that case you just carry on holding your breath waiting for it.
