If only we could replicate 20,000 of you and 20,000 PWS's, then we'd be set.

I don't mind if the release clause exists, in many ways it demonstrates the integrity of the man.
At some point he can leave, just like any other player, but that is the future and having him here next year is a huge bonus, especially when you consider he could've left for free.
Like Benteke I think if they give is another good season then they can both go fair and square after the Euros .

The result at Southampton still making sense?  ;)

Yes, very much so, nothing changed on that front.

Delph is actually better than that has been Utd signed injury prone middlefield . Schweinsteiger was what delphie is now and becoming a dynamic midfielder who is loyal I believe after 17 years service he can go

I reckon that is utter bollocks. I'd be stunned if fans made him change his mind. More it made more sense for him to stay one of which being he actually enjoys playing for Villa. But to think fans angry reactions were what did it is a bit far fetched.

Sounds more like someone's trying to make excuses for being totally wrong.

Yeah, he turned down a likely opportunity to double his salary because people wrote some nasty things on the Internet.

Thing is this won't be put to bed until we now know exactly what happened. It appears that a medical was arranged and that he chose to pull out of the deal. The reason, and the questions he'll be asked is why? Did he lack the ambition? The belief that he was anything more than a bench warmer? Why put the clause in then> Is there a clause? Any caveats around the clause? Did he just want to stay at Villa? Why? Because of the video? Settled and happy family man? Wife, 1 young kid and another on its way and just wanted to put down firm roots? he seems happy at Villa and settled. Maybe the 8m clause was put in there in case he got the offer so that he could decide what to do with his career - it came but his and his family's happiness came first and maybe he decided he really didn't want to upsticks.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that reading some posts on the internet might have given him some perspective on the move - reminded him of his words back in jan - and been a contributing factor (of many) to his final admirable decision.

Of course, thats only if you believe a move was even in the cards on the first place...
