Even if 10 mil release clause it doesn't mean delph or player has to go. I'm sure there was something  put in in case of relegation but a clause inserted would just be to inform player and representatives. I think man city and these other clubs top end go round the media press and other outlets to unsettle players or sound them out. They need English players and want to put that in papers. Same with them after Wilshire. Also man utd and harry Kane. Delph would look foolish and its just man city and press rumour.

This pertains to a holistic view and our clubs need for a step change.

So we sell our best midfielder in order to change?
I will let sherwood decide .

A convenient way to wiggle out of an argument when your wrong eh?

If he leaves then he's going to look rather stupid after what he said when he signed.

True, but he wouldn't be the first player to knife the club in the back.  Downing anyone?

Come on let's have a bit of faith in Fabian. Can't we see what he said was honest. Downing not 100% and I think that amount of money offered had to be taken.. But  actually cleverly although on loan let villa down. He grew up in Bradford too . and we gave him a lifeline developed then leaves.

Let's trust delph!!! anyone who thinks he will leave and says so shud be reminded every game our captain plays this coming season that he's a loyal man

I'm not arguing and I'm far from wrong. Maybe you are.  It's a debate . A valid one in my opinion . Ultimately my view, is Delph replaceable - Yes .
Is he the man to build a team around ? My view  - not sure. Debatable .
How has he done overall as a villa player ? He's done well at villa which is all relative in the grand scheme of things.

Can't question his loyalty can you. A big pay rise and a £10 mil release clause.

If this is true it's no wonder he signed a long contract, it didn't tie him down at all. I reckon it's bull, we wouldn't be so stupid surely?

Surely even someone as relentlessly negative as you can see that delph is a cracking player and it would be a hammer blow for him to leave?

I don't think the story is true. I think it would have come out earlier and there'd have been a mad scramble already

But I don't get why people are saying such a clause means villa would be stupid. If the choice was this or let him leave on a free we'd have been stupid not to do do it

Percy at the Telegraph seems to have an inside view on what's going on behind the scenes, I'd be far more inclined to believe him than Nursey or anything that comes out of the Mirror.

Certain papers seem to have an agenda to get our players to move on, why did it need to be brought to anyone's attention? He's out player and to my knowledge has not asked to leave so get fucked

True, I would expect there to be a clause and his agent would have been driving it down as low as possible. Seems low and if true we shall leave it to Delphs sense of loyalty. There will be a few teams opening their wallets and Tim has an interesting window ahead.

It's the Mirror so I reckon BS , even if true at £10m quite a few clubs would be in sparking a bidding war I'd assume.

So after it was patiently explained to you about two weeks ago that there wouldn't be any bidding war for Benteke because that's not how a release clause works, do people really need to do the same all over again?

Losing Benteke, unfortunate, but good luck.
Losing Delph, cannot happen, he is the engine room, leader, captain.

Let's hope it is more BS and give Delph praise where it is due, he signed on another 4 years when he would have been snapped up this summer.

A bidding war with player and his wages yes. If there is a clause, Villa won't get a penny more than £10 million for him, even if every club was interested.

look at it this way, without a take over we could have 50m plus to spend  through the sales of Weimann, Sylla, Benteke and Delph. Used wisely - and that's the biggest variable - we could end up with a better side than we have now. Other clubs have gone through similar upheaval and change(Southampton for example) and have emerged more competitive. It might not be all doom and gloom, life goes on long after our current favourites have left, even though at the time, they appear irreplaceable.
