Even if 10 mil release clause it doesn't mean delph or player has to go. I'm sure there was something  put in in case of relegation but a clause inserted would just be to inform player and representatives. I think man city and these other clubs top end go round the media press and other outlets to unsettle players or sound them out. They need English players and want to put that in papers. Same with them after Wilshire. Also man utd and harry Kane. Delph would look foolish and its just man city and press rumour.

Come on let's have a bit of faith in Fabian. Can't we see what he said was honest. Downing not 100% and I think that amount of money offered had to be taken.. But  actually cleverly although on loan let villa down. He grew up in Bradford too . and we gave him a lifeline developed then leaves.

I'm not arguing and I'm far from wrong. Maybe you are.  It's a debate . A valid one in my opinion . Ultimately my view, is Delph replaceable - Yes .
Is he the man to build a team around ? My view  - not sure. Debatable .
How has he done overall as a villa player ? He's done well at villa which is all relative in the grand scheme of things.

True, I would expect there to be a clause and his agent would have been driving it down as low as possible. Seems low and if true we shall leave it to Delphs sense of loyalty. There will be a few teams opening their wallets and Tim has an interesting window ahead.

So after it was patiently explained to you about two weeks ago that there wouldn't be any bidding war for Benteke because that's not how a release clause works, do people really need to do the same all over again?

A bidding war with player and his wages yes. If there is a clause, Villa won't get a penny more than £10 million for him, even if every club was interested.

look at it this way, without a take over we could have 50m plus to spend  through the sales of Weimann, Sylla, Benteke and Delph. Used wisely - and that's the biggest variable - we could end up with a better side than we have now. Other clubs have gone through similar upheaval and change(Southampton for example) and have emerged more competitive. It might not be all doom and gloom, life goes on long after our current favourites have left, even though at the time, they appear irreplaceable.
