End of the day, we lost a game and realistically 1 point. I think even if Andi scores one of his chances, we'd have sat back afterwards and conceded anyway.

Not too fussed again as we have 3 points from two games, that's 1 more than two battling draws at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge. And if there's one thing that's held us back over the last 20 years, it's this obsession we have with drawing games, thinking it's great when we string an 8 or 9 unbeaten run even though 6 of those games have been drawn.

Another good thing is we've got two of our toughest away games out of the way and we've still got a positive goal difference. Generally teams that have positive goal differences end up in the top half.

All in all, we certainly have the right man in charge for the task ahead this season.

You are spot on Soccer, but tonight I will be bitter.

Tomorrow, I will be apprehensive. One of my biggest annoyances with Villa is not backing up displays like the last couple with similar at home. And Liverpool looked decent last week.

They did and passed the ball well but in reality scored one goal against one of the worst away teams in the premier league and very easily could've just drawn it.

Aside from Coutinho and Sturridge, their overall 11 looks mediocre to me. Mingolet conceded 6 last time he turned up at VP and we're laughing with Kolo Toure at CB as he's been past it since he left Arsenal.

It's a fixture where we should be getting at least a point, we beat them last season and should've drawn the VP game after all.

Fatigue could be a problem but if one of the midfielders Is feeling it, bring in Sylla. Same with Weimann, bring in Tonev. We have some decent squad options now and Lambert certainly won't run this first 11 into the ground unlike MON.

I like him a lot, too. He makes it all more interesting.

There's no point moaning about backhanded compliments. That's what he does.
It's the same as Ferguson. He must have offered more compliments about us under O'Neill then any opposition manager ever did. Nearly always after we'd just rolled over for another 3-0 defeat.

If we'd held out for a point, I'm sure Mourinho wouldn't have been so complimentary.

I remember how in the 90's he used to always heap praise on us after beating us, how great we were to watch etc then we had 2 or 3 draws up there and he moaned how negative we were. The whisky nosed twunt.

As for the penalty, if you can see why that is given beyond 90th minute at the Bridge, then you are a significantly more enlightened man than I.
You've clearly made your mind up that everyone is against us and that there is some shadowy conspiracy going on, so I'm not going to bother trying to change your mind.

But I assume that this conspiracy that means we would never get an injury time penalty at Chelsea was set up sometime after 2007?
No conspiracy just cheating.

It is down to the ref on the day. There is the odd one like Sat that refs it as it is. Most ref it as a "make sure team x win".

Tonight was cheating. Simple as that.

Here is Paul Lambert's take on that incident involving Christian Benteke and Branislav Ivanovic, and also John Terry's handball in the Chelsea area, which went unpunished: "It is easy to come on here and have sour grapes but it is there for everybody to see. He clearly elbowed Christian Benteke, it was a sending off.

"The penalty was a penalty, everybody saw that. He missed two huge moments. "How can you miss that magnitude of a decision? It is beyond me.

I think I will side with the manager rather than the "not the rub of the green" type attitude on this one.

In that game, we had a player sent off for not committing a foul in the penalty area.

Definite red - offside for header - could have been a penalty late on .

Gutted - but let's take the positives . We are far better equipped for this season - it will be hugely enjoyable .

At best it is a mix of bias towards the Sky4 and incompetence. Neither of which should be acceptable.

I was very, very impressed with Okore and Delph tonight.

Needless to say, I am absolutely furious about the referee. I don't think there is a conspiracy against us. I just think the ref was incompetent and a bottler.

Ferguson was frequently very complimentary about teams who weren't a threat to him.

Yep and when Swansea were one of the few teams who dared to play well and take a point off United, he went on and on and on about Williams apparently trying to kill RVP.

It's another one of those things I don't take notice of and can't be bothered to get worked up and type about.
