On one of the Norwich forums they're talking about a few scuffles on the way back to and outside the station. Did anyone see any of this or is it sour graped home fans unable to take a bit of joviality?

A lot of Bennett's fouling is from a lack of body strength.  Spend the break in the gym and I think he will be decent.  I don't think he really warranted the yellow card so early, maybe he deserved one later for persistent fouling but there was no way he deserved to go off.  I think the ref had the sense to realize that.

There's a lot more to his weaknesses at the back than just being small.  He's always out of position and doesn't link up at all well with his centre back.  Defensively he's just bloody awful, I'd rather see him on the left of midfield, as he has good energy and gets the ball in well.

Agreed. Once he crosses the half way line he's different player and an actual asset to the team. In his own half though he can be a liability. How many daft free kicks did he give away for silly shirt pulling yesterday. The left back position has to be looked at next season.

Norwich fan said on that thread

I've had the unfortunate experience of spending 3 years in the Midlands and most of the Villa fans i've met are complete morons.

First time I've been to Norwich, and it's gone right up there in terms of a great day out.

Compleat Angler is the perfect pre-match boozer: good ale, terrace in the sun, good spot by the river.
Good-natured locals. Even the police were very laid back.
Excellent pies in the ground.
19th minute applause well-observed by the home fans, who promptly got a standing ovation from us.
No bother afterwards when we went for a beer in one of the home pubs. Quite the opposite in fact.

And cheer up folks. Every Norwich fan who came up to us afterwards is convinced we're safe and said they're pleased we're staying up, as we're a big club with great fans. They were practically suicidal at their lack of goals, creativity and tricky fixture list. They're convinced they're going down.

The way referees' minds work, one of our players will now get a straight red in the first 20 minutes against Chelsea.

Probably Baker, for a nothing challenge on Torres.

I agree, he reminds me a bit of Lee Hedrie in that sense, he hasn't got the strength to do what he wants to so resorts to daft fouls.

Anyone know where I can stream MOTD? For some stupid reason they don't put it on the iplayer. It's repeated in the morning but I haven't seen 8am of a Sunday in a long time and don't plan on starting now.
If only there were some form of recording device...

Don't have a functioning telly at the moment.

- Yeah, tell that to the tv license man.

Holt is a dirty bastard because he is in the same mould as Kevin Davies; a fat, whinging, all elbows knob head.

I listened on Radio Free 80s (or something, whatever that is/was), they reckoned he 'did' Baker, left his foot in and raked his studs. Perhaps they should've been down to ten long before we should've.

Johnson went in on a late half slide that got all man when he was on a yellow, figured he could have left early on and maybe the ref just wanted to keep everyone at 11s.

Still trying to work out how Bennett was still on the pitch at the end!

I'm still trying to work out why he was on the pitch at the start.

Kammy on Goals On Sunday was very impressed that with the ball in our half just before the winner, despite being level away from home in the last moments of the game, we had four up against four in their half.

Did he have his regulatory "That's a handball!"-moments at least for one of the saturday's games? He always goes on and on "That should be a penalty for handling the ball!" even when ball is hit yard away to the arm and how the rules should be changed from deliberate handballs to all handballs should be fouls.

The officials talk. Especially at half-time. Norwich were targeting our full-backs and either roughing them up or trying to pressure them and to stop them getting forward. It worked. I think Bennett had a learning experience game rather than being just plain rubbish. i also think that's why he was given some leniency. Also, the foul for the penalty was actually outside the box. You have to give Norwich some credit fortargetting us where they thought we would beweakest- and but for Gabby it may have worked.

Bennett was an utter liabilty yesterday, just waiting to get himself sent off.
After rugby tackling the player for his first yellow card, he then decides to hold every player's shirt that he comes into contact with, hasn't he got any brains? Anyway for the penalty, perhaps it was outside the box but why do anything at all, its all just brainless. If he hadn't already been booked he would have been booked fot that, he was very, very lucky to stay on the pitch!

Regarding Guzan's aberration; I have watched it several times and Bennett is just ball-watching and allows Holt to go around him, in fact I think that Guzan coming out so brazenly actually might have put Holt off a bit otherwise he would have had more of a free header?
