A game closer to the end of the season and no closer to the bottom.

That is a step forward.

It raises an interesting question, though. A couple o games ago the consensus seemed to be: 'if we can't get six more points from our remaining games, then we deserve to go down.'

Well, now we've got them. If we went down, would we deserve to stay up?

I think people are stuck with the idea that it is us or Wigan and they have a game in hand/play us on the last day/always manage to escape. I was in total agreement that it was us or Wigan put clearly after today that is not the case.

I can't see Wigan picking up 6 points from Swansea and Arsenal. I think if they come away with 2, they'll be lucky. Swansea are decent, albeit with little to play for. Arsenal have to push for their top 4 spot and should have too much quality.

I just think the amount of games coming up for Wigan, and their small squad, is gonna factor in. Great win for them today but they may run out of steam.
If Stoke beat Sunderland, the cats will really be up against it in the last two. They'll struggle to pick themselves up for it. It all depends on their reaction to getting a pasting by us.

Newcastle are really struggling too. Norwich don't look like they've got many goals in them.
Given our form and the goals from our front 3, I don't think we've finished putting points on the board. I think by last game we'll probably be safe in all honesty. I fancy us to get a point against Chelsea.

I am SO SO glad today i am one of the people who has stuck with Lambert from the very off, yes tactically at times he has had a few mares and made the wrong substitutions, however overall the bravery in his decisions last summer deserve so much credit alone. Not only has PL brought our supporters back down to earth and backing THE TEAM again, He has got us playing some of the best football we have seen in years, especially away from home.  The amount of kicks in the bollocks we've had this season yet PL has still managed to rally the players. 'We'll be fine' he whispered after every game in that grim Xmas period and after N'castle at home.. it may sound pretty lame but actually we will be fine, and we fully deserve our Premier league status largely down to Paul Lamberts evident hard work and belief in his players, his vision is one we must pursue, the last club to take such a risk was Manchester United...

By the way, our support this season has been the best i have witnessed in years, you get a great sense of rapport between the team/management and the fans which is really positive and creates a good vibe which opposition clubs can see. UTV, Enjoy a beer tonight.

Not really. that united team of "kids" still had:
Schmichael Irwin, Pallister, Bruce, Paul Parker, Sharpe, Mcclair, Keane Cantona...
Giggs had three seasons under his belt too.
Also they had the money to buy themselves out of trouble if it didn't work.

Started slowly I felt and Norwich like a few teams targets Bennet as a weakness and as it turned out it worked ..should of been off for the pen as it was similar to the booking he did get.Needs to toughen up in Summer or be replaced.

Gabby us out of jail single handedly as Weimann and Benteke for the most part where poor.Suprised nzog didnt come on.

Holman was shocking when he came on hopefully KEA is fit to be on bench next game if we need MF changes during the game.

MOTD order: 1.WBA v Wigan, 2. Norwich v Aston Villa, 3. Fulham v Reading, 4. Spurs v Tottenham, 5. QPR v Arsenal, 6. West Ham v Newcastle, 7. Swansea v Man City

Doubt anyone could argue with that line up.

Here's one that annoys - the Beeb and Liverpool obsession. Fowler the Sinus is now an 'expert' pundit on Final Score.

Huge win that.

Probably on balance a draw was fair but things are running for us now and in fairness we are making things happen as two excellent goals from Gabby.

Norwich are a poor poor team, hopefully WBA won't lie down against them as there's no chance they won't get anything other than a sounding beating at Man. City on the last day. If they scrape survival, they'll go down next season imo.

Must admit I thought we'd lost it as Holt's header seemed to be drifting in but just went wide. Bad error from Guzan, would've been his first proper one for the season and one that could've relegated us as that goes in and Norwich remain one point ahead of us and Wigan could've gone above us by beating Swansea.

Huge win, now let's smash Chelsea.

Yep + Andy Cole and Butt and Scholes had already played a fair few the previous season

Ok i'm being ridiculous, but we have Guzan, Lowton, Bennett, Baker, Westwood, Weimann and Benteke, and for United it did work.  also we are more of attractive club to potential buyers than most in the bottom 12 because everything is in place and we have the stadium and training facilities to match so who says the money won't be there in the next 5 years?

3 Points better off than at 3.oclock and we still have some on here saying doom doom and more doom, this is the best position we have been in all season, never have we been higher up the table since the season started and that was alphabetically, for fuck sake get down Villa Park next week give the Villa the noise that will make Chelsea think there in Turkey or more importantly wish they were and lets get 6 more points between now and the end of the season.
