What would be brilliant - and I am not saying we should have broken ranks and done it - would be for clubs to think long term with this massive tv deal, and start to use this new sea of money to massively, massively reduce ticket prices, rather than - as will no doubt happen - spunking it all on players wages or giving it to agents.

Year on year the telly money goes up and up, and year on year, supporters get stuck with high ticket prices (and ours might be lower than most, but prices across the industry are obscene), and games getting shunted to stupid times for Sky.

Surely it's not asking too much to wonder when it will be the supporters who start to see the benefits of this massive tv money?

Strikes me that supporters are the only involved group in the game who have not done very well out of the increased cash.

Cost of travel to games will probably increase for everyone. Be interesting to see if other prices in the ground go up or come down

Yep, and maybe, just maybe, it would cause a trickle-down effect through the rest of football and I wouldn't have to pay £18 for the 'privilege' of watching Tamuff at Hereford in the worst away end in the history of football.

There's a whole lot of moaning over the use of one word here which is a bit petty. It's just been pointed out that a ticket to watch Hereford v Tamworth -ie semi-pro football, is more than the cost per match of a £325 season ticket for Premier League football.

It really is a ridiculous thing to moan about.

Both Hereford and Tamworth are professional football clubs, as ridiculous as that might sound.

Regardless, £325 is fantastic value compared to what the majority of teams in the top two divisions charge.

Moaning that the club has put up prices (in P8) from "ridiculously low" to just "still fairly low" seems like moaning for moaning's sake to me.
Which bit of  'prices frozen' don't you understand. If somebody was to complain to the ASA/Trading Standards about misleading customers the club would have no one to blame but themselves.

My guess is the club would argue that the price of the ST at £325 was frozen but the special early bird offer of last year was not available this year

Exactly. The price of the ticket this year is the same as the price it was last year. The difference being that if it was purchased before a certain date last year then you received a discount. This year there is no discount available. The actual price has not altered.

Well, we've waited patiently for twenty years, so I'm sure it must be just around the corner.
Yep, any minute now.
Almost certainly soon.
Definitely. Perhaps.

Unless the fa can wrestle control back, and thereupon instigate something akin to the German model of club ownership, we shall be milked until we simply can't afford it, no matter how hard we scrimp and save.
And then we won't go any more.
And nobody will neither notice nor care.

Not sure I'm going to renew if I'm honest. Yes villa is in my blood but I have not enjoyed the last 3 years and I dont think I can put myself through another season of this shit. The club should be paying us to attend not the other way round.

What is ridiculous is that the club bought in an 'early bird' scheme in for one season.
The club knew they were going to struggle to sell S/T with the TSM in charge.
Don't forget they bought in the early bird after 'listening to the fans'.
That is the clubs words not mine.
I was rang by the T/O a couple of months a ago and was asked about the early bird offer.
I told them it was a great way of rewarding loyal fans and the club gets the money earlier.
It's a win/win.Someone in the T/O must of had a bang on the head if they it is wise to pull it after one season.
We could be playing Championship football next season for fucks sake.
The club needs all the fans it can get.

The vast majority have been frozen. The only ones that haven't are the ones that were the cheapest in the ground. These are still the cheapest in the ground. By some distance.

I agree that, with the new television deal, clubs should be looking at reducing prices. However, that needs supporters of all clubs to unite. I'm not pretending to know how that would work by the way. If we are slagging off clubs for ticket prices there are far more deserving recipients of our ire than Villa.

Sadly, Arsenal, Chavski, Spurszzzz, Man Ure and Liverpool all charge way more than us and have long waiting lists on season tickets. Unless this changes you are unlikely to see any other club significantly drop prices as they will say prices need to remain "competitive" to allow the club to compete.

It's all about the Market price. What would the clubs fans pay? Arsenal, Liverpool and Man U can charge a high price because people will pay. If they stop paying then the price comes down. We are cheap because we can only fill it for the big games. If the average attendance goes up, then so do the prices

How many people won't renew because their already ridiculously cheap (comparatively) season ticket is going up by £1.50 a game?

Knock it on the fucking head. Nobody has said they aren't going to renew because the season ticket price has gone up from £295. Those who got those tickets were the first to renew last year when everyone else was bleating about never going again because of McLeish. Even after McLeish had gone, the same people still didn't renew and still didn't attend matches. Now the prospects of staying up appear better, we have all the happy clappers coming out saying what great value everything is.
