Aston Villa v Man City    Lose     24
Reading v Aston Villa    Win     27
Aston Villa v QPR    Draw     28
Aston Villa v Liverpool    Lose     28
Stoke v Aston Villa    Draw     29
Aston Villa v Fulham    Win     32
Man Utd v Aston Villa    Lose     32
Aston Villa v Sunderland    Win     35
Norwich v Aston Villa    Draw    36
Aston Villa v Chelsea    Lose     36
Wigan v Aston Villa    Lose     36

That seems a very reasonable set of predictions and provides a points total that might keep us up or might send us down

At the moment I would say there is more than 50 per cent chance that we will finish 17th or 18th. Sadly, I think the most likely scenario is 18th, as you would have to be quite optimistic to believe that we will have a better run-in than Wigan. There's of an outside chance that Southampton will get involved, but so far they've looked to good to be relegated. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Newcastle, and in that case Newcastle would be our best hope of an outsider.

Wish I hadn't looked up Wigan's remaining games. They should finish mid-table with this friendly trot to the summer beach -

Home
Liverpool
Newcastle
Norwich
Swansea
Spurs
Villa

Away
QPR
West Ham
West Brom
Arsenal

and that's only 10, there's a missing fixture somewhere for some reason.

Reading on the other hand are doomed -

Home
Villa
Southampton
Liverpool
QPR
Man City

Away
Everton
Man Utd
Arsenal
Norwich
Fulham
West Ham

Aston Villa   v    Man City         Lose          24
Reading   v    Aston Villa         Win          27
Aston Villa   v    QPR                 Lose          27
Aston Villa   v    Liverpool         Lose          27
Stoke   v    Aston Villa         Draw    28
Aston Villa   v    Fulham         Win          31
Man Utd   v    Aston Villa         Lose          31
Aston Villa   v    Sunderland   Draw    32
Norwich   v    Aston Villa         Draw    33
Aston Villa   v    Chelsea         Lose          33
Wigan   v    Aston Villa         Lose          33

I can't see any way the team will improve enough to stay up - as promising as our attacking options are they can't compensate for the dreadful defence or Lambert's overall ineptitude.

I protest.  There's already a finely crafted thread about this.

I agree with all those predictions up until the last 3 games when I think/hope/pray we'll get more than a point. Chelsea could be beatable if top 4 is sewn up and they have a Cup Final to worry about.
