I'm sure if PL thought that by playing Bent we would stand a better chance of staying up he'd do it.  He may well decide that next Monday is such an opportunity, however I doubt he'd compromise his principles.  After all, if we did go down it would go against his reputation and put his job in jepordy as you would expect.

I doubt if there's another manager in the land who wouldn't play a goal scorer as good as Bent in a relegation battle. It's just madness that he's sitting twiddling his thumbs while Wiemann runs around like a headless chicken. It's madness. We need him in the team!

Personally, I think Wiemann is playing well. He works extremely well with Benteke

Weimann doesn't run around like a headless chicken. He is a young player with good movement who creates space and has scored a few vital goals this season - he will improve with experience .

Bent is no doubt a quality finisher but he doesn't fit into the system lambert plays , bent was at his most prolific with service from the wide areas from downing and young .

If we're not doing well on Monday I'd be tempted to bring Bent on with half an hour to go on the "bound to score against former club" basis.

Yes yes I know Weimann's a good young player and I've said elsewhere that he's one of only a few players who can hold his head up high when the season ends, but he has been poor lately and has contributed nothing of note. He needs to be rested and replaced by Bent for the run in.

It's not surprising how many opposition fans really rate Weimann. Maybe they watch him without the stress of being a Villa fan or the threat he makes to their teams. He's a great talent and although he's missed a few lately, he's a natural goalscorer so I'm not too concerned at the moment. I'd only like to see him get in the box more often. Stuck out wide, despite his tracking back, he's not being allowed to play to his full potential.

Agree to an extent but I think back to how Gabby benefited from playing out wide in his early career, it's a way of getting him used to PL football without the weight of expectation of being up front.

You cannot play Bent and Benteke together in my view. No manager in the land is going to pick Bent over Benteke, the later offers far, far more.

Quite frankly Darren Bent should have been given the second half against Man U  as we had already lost.

1. To give Benteke a rest for the crucial games ahead
2. To get Benty up to speed should he be needed off the bench in these crucial games.

Lerner/Lambert don't want him anywhere near the team because they're desperate to get him off the wage bill. In their twisted world it's more important to get him off the wage bill next season than it is to stay in the Premier League.

That makes no sense whatsoever. If he was banging in the goals it would help us flog him and we'd get a better price. Time to go back to conspiracy theory school.

Yeah and it would make it even more difficult for them to flog him in the summer. Imagine the uproar from the fans if they tried to flog him after a successful goal scoring season.
By the way I'm not the only one to think like this. Ask Matt Kendrick at the Mail and find out who he's been speaking to.

Seriously, what a load of cobblers.

The owner is happy to see the club get relegated just so that he can sell a player without the supporters being so upset. This being the same owner who made the most unpopular managerial appointment of all time less than two years ago, such is his reluctance to go against public opinion. I despair.

I wouldn't put anything past that man. Incompetent and irresponsible and out of his depth. I despair.

It's called realism. You should try it one day.
