I'd give it to Gary Neville

Just wanted to suggest someone that hasn't been said ;-)
In all seriousness, he's a winner (as much as I hate him))', highly rated by the England coaching set up, knows the game, knows what premier league players are like.
Think he will make a good manager one day (if he gets fed up with tv). He talks the most sense out of anyone on sky.
Is there a manager available/option the he could work alongside?

Because he is not Scottish?

all these calls for Poyet. Isn't he just today's Paul Lambert? This time last year under McTwat, we wanted Lambert. We got him. What's to say the next bloke we want doesn't end up the same?
That's an argument for never changing your manager.  If ever there is an argument for changing your manager it's now - in the season when relegation will cost you however many millions and leave you even further behind that you were already.

I'm not saying not to change him if it is deserved. I'm just saying going with the popular vote isn't always the answer as we are finding out.

Phil Dowd

1)knows the players

2) is already hated, so the 6 month honeymoon period can be over early

3) will no longer be able to referee

4) his mates might give us a few pens and goal kicks instead of corners

If Lambert is sacked, we should give a six-month deal to someone with PL experience who could sort out or defence quickly. From those criterias, we could probably do worse than Sven Goran Eriksson or Steve MacClaren. But I doubt that the fans would greet any of those appointments with any sort of joy.

The reasoning is that what we need to stay up -- a bit of tactical nous and a good deal of pragmatism -- is what Lambert lacks.

fucking hell, Steve McLaren. That's all we need. He was just ace at Forest. And Sven just joined 1860 Munich luckily.

There's a lot of things in Gary Neville's favour if he wants the job.

For one thing, Randy could get another signed endorsement from the honourable Sir Alex, the most respected man in all of soccer.

you see this is my big worry if we show Lambert the door,

who will take over, i find it easier to support Lambert as i think i understand something of what he's trying to eventually do (although this is deminishing slowly)
but to bring in some ex failed old has been no hoper would just be worse

Only if he brings Halsey as his assistant
