if we went down and kept most of the squad together we would piss the championship probably with record points
but hopefully it wont happen

Not sure what you base that on considering we couldn't defeat a 4th division side over 2 legs, Villa go down and they will be down for a while.

oh come on, you know it was a historic one off thing,
if we played them every week without cameras we would beat them 9 times out of 10, we would be to strong for anyone in the championship
there is no one with the firepower of Benteke and Vieman, they would have a field day and you know it, that is if they stayed which is what i said originally

we are not that bad a team, just very fragile and vulneruble under pressure, most of it is in our heads, the quality of players we have are far better than any other squad in the Champs league

i'm really hopeing it doesnt come to that, and i'm not making an argument for going down either, just think we would come back easily, but it would still set us back as a club

Benteke?

He's not going to be here next season if we go down. We'll do very well to keep him if we stay up. "If they stayed" doesn't come into it, there's zero chance.

Our finances are totally fucked. We go down and we're going to be more like a Leeds United or Nottingham Forest relegated side (ie staying there a while) than a Newcastle

And all this in the year the already huge TV money goes mentally huge.

Relegation this season couldn't come at a worse time.

The kids confidence is ruined, they need to be taken out of the firing line because this is ruining their careers

2/2 anyone.RL talked to PL last night & remains rock solid in his support.Even if AV got relegated, believe RL would keep him, believes in PL .

Tweet from Pat Murphy

If that is the case, then if I was PL I would have been on a plane over to the US this morning to speak to Randy face-to-face and tell him that he needs to release some funds or the position has become untenable.

Me. I'll do the job.

On Football Manager I'm 6th with Villa and have done it on a budget of £0.00

Sold most of the deadwood and have scouted Europe for talent.

£200.00 a week and I'm yours.

And somebody can have my season ticket, as long as they keep my client reff going.

I'm going home after work tonight to get on that game to make myslef feel better.  Still shellshocked and shaking.
Not a bad acheivement.

To get us out of the mess we need short term motivation from proper Villa people.

Big Ron as DOF with Martin Laursen as Manager.

Yes I know, it sounds like a post by a moron but they both love the club deeply and have experience in the game. Will be able to motiviate and galvanize the team.

I don't want to sound like Newcastle, but it could work? Get the club back to proper Villa people!

It doesn't matter what the popular vote is, because we have the popular vote in charge right now and he's making a pig's ear of it. I had every faith in Lambert when he arrived that he'd be something completely different, and that he'd have an attitude that we've long been missing at the club. Quite frankly, the decline and the inability to arrest the decline is shocking. And really, there is little end in sight. I hate the thought of changing yet again because it brings so much volatility and instability. However, how can anything be more volatile or just generally horrendous than it is right now?

Completely agree.  It's getting worse, not better and our decline is speeding up, not slowing down.  We need new faces at every level: boardroom, dugout and pitch.  It's a terrible, terrible mess.

Nope. Get Curbishley in short term. Laursen isn't proven as a manager. It would be madness, even suicide to take a chance on him. We need someone who knows what he's doing.

You could put just about any manager in charge right now and the team wouldn't get any worse, we've hit rock bottom. Lambert might go on to be a decent manager but I can't see it happening for him here, he looks as much in a rut as the rest of the club and he doesn't have one off those magnetic personalities that can lift a club.

That's what I think we need as a club now, a figurehead, someone to rally around who cares about the club as much as we do, someone who can pick the team up (and go again). Someone who can make us believe again. Right now we are an embaressment.

The 'performances' and league tables suggest that Villa are a very poor side and sadly getting knocked out by Bradford City isn't that much of a surprise. There is no way Villa would 'walk' any league, equally no way Benteke will still be a Villa player.

i still think we would be massive favourites,
even if a few left cant see why we wouldnt have a good enough squad to come back up, i think we would walk that league

but let me just say it would set the club back finacially and in no way do i think it would be a good thing for us,
i'm just saying if we did go down in my view we would be more than capable of  bouncing straight back, but obviously would be severly weakend by the experience

There's only one man for the job

He's recently back and after being out of football for a while, has a Plan A but no Plan B. His Plan A was very effective playing 4 forwards and by-passing midfield for the large part.

And like BFR has Kettering links.

The planets align - step forward Mr John Beck
