The game, at present, is expected to be on.  (Football police on twitter)

Well hopefully a win today and a Southampton collapse on Monday.

I have just looked at the other fixtures for today.
Because I am all consumed with Villa, I haven't looked at anyone else for a while.
Blimey, there are some big games today. I don't know how I want those games to end up, best for us.
Newcastle v reading and wigan v sunderland.

I guess the main thing is that we bloody win.

I have zero evidence our squad is likely to win or even draw today. I guess I will try blind faith. Its gets harder every week though.

I never knew the Hawthorns is the highest ground in England, always though it was Boundary Park, it was like the Arctic Circle up there.

Boundary Park in 87 was the coldest I have ever been at a football match.

and me  and very depressing too

We won.
[/qquote]sorry Dave , I was thinking of The Cup game 3-0 ,  got it wrong , the later one and it was the coldest for me  .  I actually left early as I had enough and then could not get out of the ground car park as the Oldham fans had blocked us in and we had to wait for them to come out all laughing at us through the windscreen , horrible night .
I remember at league game at the Hawthorns around 84/5.  It was sooo.. cold.  I had about 3 jumpers, my hat, gloves, scarf and thick coat on.  But was still freezing.   I do remember on villa fan who was wearing just an open necked shirt and one of those thin leather waist length jackets, completely unzipped  He was swinging back larger on the terrace.  I remember thinking he must be hard.

'swinging back larger'? Did he have his cock out despite the cold or was he swigging lager?
Nearly spat my coke out over the bloke opposite me on the train after reading that! Nice one!
If game on I think we'll get a 1-1 draw.

Many thanks. Coke is best spat out, I always find.

Saw this on the BBC's sportsday/transfer window page, timed at 9.37am:

"West Brom against Aston Villa is today's 1730 GMT kick-off and that game is under threat. Albion are saying they are making 'concerted efforts' to get The Hawthorns ready"

Great that's all we need. We're struggling and the only signing so far is some nobody from Crewe. Ellis out!

Barring severe deterioration in weather, Villa derby will go ahead

BARRING a severe deterioration in the weather conditions, today’s derby against Villa will go ahead (ko 5.30pm).

The pitch has been cleared of snow and is perfectly playable thanks to the under-soil heating.

All seating areas, concourses, turnstile approaches and pathways around the stadium, on land owned by the club, have also been cleared of snow and gritted.

All supporters are strongly urged to leave plenty of time for their journey to The Hawthorns and also to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Fans should also note that several car parks and pavements around the stadium that are not owned by the club may not have been gritted and are therefore urged to take extra care.

Mark Miles, Albion’s head of facility operations & development, said: “The ground staff and extra help we’ve hired in have done a terrific job in clearing the snow and we’re now making all of our usual pre-match preparations.

“Unless there is a sudden deterioration in the weather, which is not forecast, the game will go ahead as planned.”
