I think at times like this we really need General Krulak to come on here and calm people down with his explanations of where and how Villa are improving.

Can we put Nicola Keyes in charge?

Chelsea in the final wouldn't be fun at all I fear.

But at least we would've avoided the humiliation of being knocked out by a league two side over two legs in a semi final.

hysteria is so much more fun than sober reflection. It's half time; They were at home in front of a packed house that they probably have only experienced once before knowing that this in all probability was their one chance in their careers of glory. They played out of their skins. At VP our lot will be playing for their professional pride and a shot at redemption; they have to give it all and more again and will feel that complacency kicking in - they can't help it. We're the Villa - we've been here before and triumphed.

I like the positive attitude and part of me agrees. But another part of me thinks that some of the Bradford players didn't play out of their skins, they just played to what they're capable of. And that means they're capable of cutting off any potential comeback at source with a spirit-crushing goal just as we level the tie, for example.

A bad night, no mistake.

But!

If you had to stand on the drop floor to the sharks like a Bond film.

Would you stand on the trap door:

Wembley or The Sharks (lose the semi after VP game)

I know where I would stand.

WEMBLEY.

As a football supporter I am very happy for Bradford fans tonight. They are a good club with some history. They have had absolutely crap time of late however today has been good for them. Their supporters were a picture of joy in and around the ground before the game , during the game and obviously after. Good very good memorable night for for fans. Sometimes this is how it should be.

Fuck it, we'll twat them at VP.

Maybe we will but its only papering over the cracks- I'd fear what Chelsea would do to us at Wembley.

Why not Swansea?

Because Chelsea will beat Swansea!

Just like they should have beaten QPR?

If we don't reach the final, and I still think we can, without holding out too much hope that we wll, my ideal scenario would be a Bradford v Swansea final.

I can see us beating bradford maybe , but I cannot see us staying up - we are so poor it's frightening.

I admire your optimism and if I hadn't spent my hard earned watching us play Chelsea, Spurs & Wigan each batter us over the festive period then I'd be likely to agree.

I was at Tranmere away and home and whilst trudging out of Prenton Park that night was a disaster, the return leg was my most memorable match to date.

I'll be up for it BIG style on the 22nd as we all will, lets hope we can beat a division 4 side at home eh! However, rest assured we will be soundly beaten by either Swansea or Chelsea and its anyone's guess as to how many goals they'll want to score against us. Because we are shit.

We lost to Bradford 1-3 We could easily beat them 6-2 at home in 2 weeks that doesn't worry me. Survival in the Premier League does though with what I think is the worst defence in all the divisions

A laughing stock for the second time in less than three weeks; not blaming Lambert or Lerner for this one as that team should have been more than capable of beating a team 60 places below them in the league

It's only half time in the cup tie and we may well dick them 5-0 in the second leg but more concerning is simply the fact that a team from the 4th tier of English football can beat us so easily

Bennett, Bannan, Clark, hell they were shit from one to eleven tonight (only N'Zogbia seemed to offer anything of a threat) and I am very concerned about the future of this club

Lambert and Lerner you do have the chance to try and do something about; don't pass up the opportunity

As far as Villa cup shockers goes, this is right up there with the worst of them.

The romantic in me says, remember Tranmere 94?

The realist in me tells me that I actually don't think the current team has what it takes to raise it's game and stage the sort of come back.

Plus Lambert isn't fit to lace Big Ron's boots.

Do you know the bit I hate at the moment? It's when you wake up in the morning, dreading work and then you remember the fucking score line from the day/night before.  And it's happening a lot lately.

What I hate about nights like this is knowing, just knowing, that the headline on the news report that I'll wake up to in the morning will be a hysterical retread of Villa's latest debacle.

God, I'd love Big Ron to work behind the secnes at Villa in some capacity. He might have pissed on his chips in that regard but he knows the game inside out.
