Weimann's goal is a truly superb finish, absolute class.

Given's first half save after their first goal was superb. Though he did seem to stray towards the centre of the pitch quite a few times.

i love it when a big gob looks a twat! when we kicked off 2nd half the idiot behind me, who i think at one point wanted to come through my seat and actually become part of me, was shouting forward, stop just passing for the sake of passing, backwards sideways you lot just get it up there, and then we had the ball for 75 seconds without ipswich touching it and hey presto, found some space, slipped it in for darren bent and scored.
he sat back down and a few around just smiled at him.

Just home from the game.   Shaky start but a lot of positives to take from the game.

Firstly and most important was the win.   Joe Bennett was excellent.   Darren Bent seems to have put his dummy back in and showed some flashes of real class.   The miss in the second half when he had a nano second and a gap a ball width to aim at and he clipped it with the outside of his left boot just wide of the post was brilliant.  Jordan Bowery showed he has a lot of real potential and looked like Fonz with balls.  Andreas's goal was superb.   To me he looks more and more like Alan Shearer with every game.   Tough, hard, fast and totally direct with head or feet.   Love him.   Negatives nothing went right for Barry Bannan and Stephen ireland did his normal "this is all a bit beneath me" routine, otherwise a fighting display and a good day's work.

Result was everything.
Special mention for Bowery, clinical finish from Bent, good goal from Weimann.
Nice to see Zog and Gabby back.
Thought Zog did reasonably well.

Sponsers gave MOTM to Bennett, bizarre.

So am I the only one who though N'Zogbia was our best player?  He did go out of the game for a period in the middle part of the game but some his movement was excellent and he gave us something we have not had all season - pace and direct running.  Very promising signs for me.

It just felt so much "safer" watching a Villa team where there was a bit of experience in Bent, N'Zogbia, Gabby etc.  I thought the latter looked really hungry when he came on and caused them no end of problems with his pace and strength.  We have really missed having genuine pace in the side and looked so much better for it today.

Special mentions to Bennett, who looked a lot more comfortable in a back four and put some great crosses in, Weimann for another fantastic finish and Given who has a great attitude and kept us in the Cup with a world class save.

Onwards and upwards.  Hopefully.

not at all mate. n'zog was superb today, that is the player we paid for, he got a standing ovation and well deserved

Zog was excellent , surprised to see him taken off unless it's a case of saving his legs for Tuesday.

One touch Weimann.

Every goal he has scored this season has been one touch finish absolute class

Benteke, Bent, Weimann, Gabby, Bowery.
We're well off up front, we need to get the midfield and defence sorted.

I rarely post on this thread as it usually too negative but after watching what I thought were two poor teams think everyone is a bit too rose tinted with their view.
From a messy, bitty start it seemed we were lacking in confidence to dominate and almost in the blink of an eye turned into a shambles for half an hour. It really was dire as bad as I have seen in a long time- even Reo-Coker must have thought these lot don't know how to get it forward.
Started the second really well but went off the boil a few times when we had them reeling. They are not a good side.
Thought Zog looked better in the middle but would have liked to see Bowery play there as he seems to be built more like a centre forward than a wide player. Although we got the ball out wide umpteen times-virtually all the movement was back inside and not behind the defence. Bennett was the exception and put in some good early crosses that caused real panic.
Both goals very good but they had enough chances and Given did his share.
