I see Sussex 311 A/O. Warwickshire 81/4 in reply. We were 0/2 at one stage! Chopra, Javid and Porterfield all got ducks. Porterfield is useless - I think I could bat better than him! Our bowling attack is decimated by England call-ups and injuries. Well done to Chambers on-loan from Essex; a 5 wicket haul - perhaps he could follow Chris Wright under the guidance of Graham Welch?
This season has been a nightmare especially in the T20 & YB40.

Bears 184/5
Ambrose Ct Hamilton-Brown b Jordan 61
Evans 95 no
Partnership of 137 after ducks from Chopra, Javid who i can forgive but another one from Porterfield - happening all to often. Westwood the other wkt to fall for 16. Another fine performance from Evans who has now moved on to 103 for another fine century - he came to crease at 0-2....fair play to the lad!
192-5 now

Close of Play
252-6
Milnes 24
Barker 0
Decent recovery from 47-4 bat out the remaining 30 scoring overs and we hopefully will have a bit of a lead. Good debut from Chambers took a further 2 wkts this morning to finish with 5-68 and Barker 3-98
Had to miss these 2 days - work got in the way but could be a good couple of days down there Fri and Sat and no Villa to get in the way.

Grande Pablo may not be to impressed with the news that Somerset are only 4 wkts away from an innings victory with Middx 106 & 104-6 still 239 behind Somerset so a maximum haul of 24 points taking them to 111 points overtaking Derbyshire who were 219 all out so only 1 point there, Surrey in reply 56-2 so it probably will be Derby back in bottom 2. A real bottom of the table clash at the Oval.Neither side can afford to lose and a draw no good with Somerset sure to win.
Meanwhile back here at Edgbaston Bears moved onto 307-7 only 4 behind.
Milnes highest score of season 45 no and Patel 22 a partnership so far of 39.

Lunch
339-8 109 overs a lead of 28
Patel 44
Chambers 7
So 1 over to get 11 runs for an extra batting point, Patel will be facing that over but i don't expect them to necessarily go for it. Conversely 1 over for Sussex to get 1 wicket and maximum bowling points.
Other lunch time Div 1 scores:
Somerset 449 Middx 106 & 148-7

Durham 573 Yorks 274 still 299 behind

Derby 219 Surrey 97-3

Sussex 192-4
Beer LBW Gordon 11
Joyce 41
Rory Hamilton-Brown in
Sussex lead 109
Needs a bit of action for them to set us some sort of target. The fact that Beer has gone may help that it took him 49 balls for his 11.

PGW you do a cracking job keep ping me updated. I tend to look at your updates rather than BBC nowadays.  Just thought I'd let you know so you don't think it's a waste of your time! Keep up the good work.

No problem mate....i went down the ground yesterday and my phone went flat so couldn't update....stopping home today unless Sussex set us a decent target...
196-4 now
48 runs and 1 wkt in 19 overs so far this morning....fairly turgid stuff at moment...

Lunch 246-4 82 overs Sussex lead 163

Hamilton-Brown 36

Bears did NOT take the new ball when available and in fact had Westwood bowling the last over before lunch....which was a maiden.
The other Div 1 lunch scores are:
Durham 573 Yorks 274 & 351-5
Derby 219 & 80-1 Surrey 289

First ball after lunch and McKay drops Hamilton-Brown off Keith Barker.

If you weren't aware McKay keeping wicket after Ambrose broke a finger whilst batting. Sussex allowed McKay to keep wkt.
