I hope the result doesnt paper over the fact that we did not want the ball and did not want to play football. nigh on every time we played 1 or 2 passes then twatted it long to Benteke to try and do something with. All of the early promise of Lamberts passing and possesion football appears to have evaporated and I dont know why...

It's pretty obvious isn't it? Their confidence is shot. Hopefully today will help a bit. Looking forward to some light relief in the cups

Surely Lambert can control it from the sidelines to an extent though. I would recommend shouting "dont just twat it" or something along those lines....

Halsey is as bigger ****** as Dowd.

He gave us fuck all. It was the linesman that gave the penalty and the corners proceeding it.

They got so much protection it was a joke, while we got nowt.

Hope Westy's injury isn't to bad.

Injuries, lack of experience and battered confidence.

Let's all calm down, shall we?

No point in anyone getting themselves banned.

We got a point, not as nice as the three would have been, but a lot better than what we picked up in the last three games.

Right we now have 11 days to the next league game. Surely that must be enough time to bring in a player or two and / or get some players back from the treatment table.

That Southampton game's gonna be huge!

I can't figure out what on earth team we're going to play away at Bradford / v Ipswich to be honest. Who plays in midfield? Bannan and Delph? Jesus

Do we sacrifice a real chance of silverware? I think we should be more worried about the league. Was hoping we'd be going into the semi with some 21-24 points so we could afford to field our best eleven.

Perhaps it's personal with him. Or he's on the take. Whatever it is, Halsey never gives the Villa anything unless he absolutely has to.

The confidence will be absolutely rock bottom.

I don't think for a moment there is enough quality in this squad, but when you look at how many young kids we've been playing, just think how they'd have felt after conceding 8 then 4 goals. Their confidence would have been utterly bollocksed, and it has shown.

When things go well for a good side, confidence soars, when they go badly, it plummets. There's not much of an in between.

Because for the most part our players aren't good enough to play that kind of football.

No, it is pressure and lack of confidence.

It is easier to bring young players into a team that plays a passing game with confidence, rather than a team that is limited in the passing game and has to rely on battling for everything.  The main thing with a passing game is that you have more time, time to think and time to reorganise.  Last ditch defending and battling in midfield will inevitably lead to young players switching off for a second and that can very costly.

regardless of the individual players, I think you have to give them all credit, after the last few weeks they must have been shellshocked

We could well only play five league games in the next two months. A cup run might be the perfect time to start giving players a try-out.

We stopped the rot, at the start of the game, I don't think many if any wouldn't take that after the last few weeks. Vlaar coming back will be a big help, I hope he gets another midfielder in January

Confidence of the lads seems shot but Wiemans goal could be a turning point. As ever though, inconsistancy worries me
