OK we have only lost 3 points today. Yes the goal difference is worrying but that is not going to matter in the big scheme of things. Lambert and players need t learn from this and get something out of our next two games and we will be alright.

Expected us to lose but not like that ..very poor to give up out GD advantage over the rest of the teams down there like losing another point in honesty

I agree, perhaps the last two games were a false dawn, because today was more than a wake up call.

Had Liverpool scored first last week the result would have been very different

Stupid comment makes no sense because the same could be said if we had scored first today, but they didn't and we didn't.  Enjoy smelling your own shit whilst cowering under your dining table convinced we will be playing championship football next season!!

I'm really trying hard not to give you some abuse for your reply

Feel free mate it will make you feel better.

I will settle for pointing out that Liverpool had a great first 25 minutes against us last week and had they scored in that 25 mins they were likely to have got another. As per today's game

Enjoy you Christmas mate hope you feel a bit better after embellishing your pointless comment a second time.  Oh and by the way we had an even better 65 minutes in that game at Anfield and as far as I am concerned as a Villa fan those are the minutes that mattered.  I thought we defended heroically in that first 25 mins to earn the right to destroy then in the following 65, you of course are free to think what you like and express those thoughts freely on here just like I have done.  Once again have a great Christmas day, maybe we can get together at the game on Boxing day and discuss this further, are you going?

I recall an arsenal side full of kids getting absolutely spanked by man utd, twice in recent seasons.they went on to finish top four. We clearly won't do that, but neither does today's game mean we're definitely going down. I was pretty convinced we'd be bottom three for Xmas a few weeks back. We just need to get through the spurs game - adrae would be a really good result - and then put some wins together in January. Could definitely do with 2-3 signings though!

Most disappointing was the workrate today, we are a young side playing a team of internationals worth millions the last thing you need is the workrate to drop off. Chelsea targetted our left side from the off, not the first side to do that, they all see the weakness.
Lambert tried to keep the momentum up from last week when probably a more defensive team was needed,we all know that we need
experienced players in, lets see what happens next month.
Pleat was saying something similar. He mentioned in midweek our reserves got a to king from Spurs however Lambert asked Sid to set up the team exactly like first team at Liverpool and not change the shape despite being trounced. Today he did the same at Chelsea and better players found Villa wanting again. He finished off with saying that Lambert is brave and will carry on with his belief.

My feeling about the goal difference is that if we score to get it in the right direction, we'll be earning the points that go with it. If it deteriorates further, we'll be losing. Ultimately, it's irrelevant.

As the old adage goes, don't get too carried away when you win and don't get too down when you lose.  Have to admit that was pretty horrendous though and the fact it was broadcast live on TV made it even worse.  I hope PL has made it clear that that was unacceptable and is considering some changes for Boxing Day.

The first time in 3936 top flight games that we have conceded 8 goals so every Villa fan has to be hurting after that result

We were truly fucking awful and barely mustered a shot worth mentioning in 90 minutes (Weimann's one that hit the bar possibly the exception) and we looked liked conceding every time they came forward; it could have been 13-0 and we couldn't have complained

Nice to hear Lambert come out and openly admit he was not happy with the performance/result/everything today but he has got a real battle to pick the players up for the Spurs game

Is that soe kind of a troll to see if I attend Villa games?

Well to put you mind at rest, yes I will be there on Boxing Day, yes I have a season ticket, yes I have been going to VP for the last 30 years, yes I have followed villa home and away during the last three decades! (Although not away for the past few due to family etc...)

At 6.0 my wife asked me, "why I did not join the rest of the family outside at the Braii" my response was, what about the poor bastards at Stamford Bridge, we need to have some empathy with them.
I do not know what to say I am 56 and saw my first Villa game at the age of 8.
We have never conceeded 8 on my watch.
Have I been more upset in my Villa life ? Yes, many times.
Today was not pleasant but it will not stick in my memory like some results played out by some other Villa teams.
It must be clear to Lambert that we need some experience in the team.
Do not take it away from Chelsea, I saw Utd, City, and Arse play this weekend Chelsea and their midfield would have creamed all of them.If we do nothing in the transfer window, then lets get cross , until then chin up and lets beat those other Cockney pretenders on Boxing day.

I'd rather 8-0 with hope than 1-0 with nothing.

I feel ok.
