And to add, tonight's performance give me more hope for the future than a lot of our insipid performances against this lot over the years did.

That's true.

Then again, though, I remember saying exactly the same thing under Houllier when we threw away a 2 goal lead against these wankers. I liked the shape we had today, Lambert needs to find some consistency with that and work on it.

I know there's a rational response to every negative thing I can say here, but I just feel so fucking pig sick, I can't stand it.

It's not often you can be proud and be positive after losing in such a manner, but today I am. It's a kick in the balls to lose after playing so well and when you're two goals up.

I loved the determination and commitment from the whole team today. What I also really liked was after going 2-0 up we weren't satisfied pressing to get a third... Even when they scored we didn't drop our heads, we still were playing positive not cowering under pressure. We shouldn't of let Hernandez score his first, I thought we could of maybe dealt with that better. Another minor criticism is that we could of used substitutes earlier.

I couldn't care less what the stats say, I thought we used the ball really well when we had it mostly and its not like they played well because we didn't deserve to lose, their goals came from crosses, they didn't slice through our defence because for the most part we defended well. It was one player with clinical finishing that beat us.

Benteke, Weimann, Stevens and Vlaar were the standout players for me (Gabby was very close to making the list) but I couldn't fault the team as each player played really well contributing to the combined effort.

Both our goals were great to watch especially the first with Benteke showing his strength then picking out Weimann who finished it with a superb strike.

Oh and fuck you ref you fucking biased ******. Poor display by someone trying to officiate a game.

That was brilliant for 60 minutes or so. By taking it to them we really gave them a game.
So why the fuck did our manager decide that he had had enough and take off our main threats?.
I'm sorry but it has to be said, KEA and Delph are shit. They offer nothing. And to play them together is just telling the opposisitionnthat you have no intention of trying to go forward and attack. I really can't stand this fucking ultra safe shit. We had enough last year.

Benteke, you my son will be a legend, if you really want it you can truly be great.

KEA is starting to worry me an awful lot.

I hate the plucky loser tag as much as anyone. However, all last year when we were giving away three points before a ball was kicked, numerous folks said on here that as long as we didn't roll over and die (like the Arsenal game) then they'd be more forgiving. Well we didn't roll over and die so what's changed?
Hey, i know what you are saying, at least we lost with integrity. And I hope we go at Citeh and Arse in the same way. But fuck the amount of times that we have played the plucky loser to those C**** is wearing a bit thin.

Far point, but the frustrating thing is that we did roll over at 2-0. Otherwise we'd have got something from the game. It's a psychological thing, it happens all the time against these c***s.

Their wanker fans and that combine to make this the one fixture I absolutely loathe. It's just so predictable.

I disagree with the first part. Most of this 11 has never played against them before so why would they be psychologically effected? I do think it's a psychological thing for them though. How many games over the 15-20 years have they looked dead and buried but ended up with a result? That game against Sheff Weds, the cup semi in '94 against Oldham as examples from long ago.
Much as I loathe them I have to admire the way they never seem to think a match is lost. It's one of the big reasons they've won so much.

I agree 110% with the last bit.

We didn't roll over at all. We conceded three poor goals. Both sides are poor at the back.

So bloody frustrating to put so much effort in and get nothing out of it.

Lots of positives mind. We look dangerous going forward and the side seems balanced.

Hilarious to see Smalling get tossed around like a rag doll.

If Man City dont win this league then they want shooting. Yanited have a lot of fire power and Valencia is a top player. But Carrick, Scholes, Ferdinand, Cleverly- get to fuck.

I wouldn't agree with the 'bottled it' comment.

Nothing really changed between 2-0 and 2-2 other than they had the run of the ball twice and got a goal each time. It could have happened at any time during the game.

It's very different to the way it has happened in the past. At 2-2 we still had it in us to get up the other end and create two very good chances that with the same amount of luck would have seen us pull off a result that really would have stuffed it up rednose's derriere.

Disappointing yes. But lets give ourselves the credit we deserve. Look at the quality of our goals compared to theirs.

That season we ended up 9th. So in some ways it did potentially point to a brighter future. Then a McLeish shaped cloud descended on B6.

And I still agree 110% with the last part.

Gutted.  Deep down at 2-0 I knew that we'd probably go on to lose, we've seen it too often.  Clark isn't really a defender, and Stevens is nowhere near Premier League quality, even though he tried hard.  The performance was largely good though, and Weimann was sensational, but we're still very short of quality, and we could possibly be in the bottom three next weekend.

Like all on here we are just sick of the plucky loser tag that we get against them, it is thier favourite ground dont you know. I dont give a shit about how well we played, the idea that if we play like that every week we will be fine, we wont. No we reserve these sepecially interesting games for the Sky TV viewers and confirm every time that the decision they made (those sad glory hunting wankers that no fuck all about anything)to support Man Utd was the right one. I am fucking sick of it. Thats all.

Have to say, I agree with you.
But what can we do?  We played well but we've got kids and they've got talent everywhere you look. You compare our squad with theirs and 9 times out of 10 they'll win.  All our lads can do is work their balls off, which they did, and hope for the best.

I know the run is too long but you can't really hold that against any of these players, bar maybe Gabby, or Lambert.  They're basically all new and they made a much better fist of it than many who've gone before.

Beating Man Utd isn't easy and it's made even harder when you're trying to do it on the cheap, as we are.  We're rebuilding (again) properly from scratch so I do think the quality of our performance matters.  And it was a good performance so, gutted as I am, I do think that's something to hold on to.
