ALITR: if you look at the footage of that game, there's a Villa fan jumping up and down when Bozzie saved the pen. Fair play to him, dunno how long he lasted after that.

Utd at home in the 2nd division 74/75 39,000 still have a chipped front tooth.
we,walking up past the bottom of the park, them pouring of a double decker bus from town, us engaging in "pleased to meet you" rituals.
By the way we won 2.0.
Next year, both back in Div 1, 50,000 at V.Park lots of skirmishing before and after but no noticable prescence anywhere near the Holte.
We won again 2-1
Many ( in hindsight) funny stories about trips to Salford, but for another day.

Hi percy,
my programe (not memory ,that is a bit fuzzy) says feb 76, 2-1  Mcdonald, Gray. we finished16th in div 1
Next season, 76-77 we beat them 3-2 Mortimer 1 Gray 2. finished 4th in div 1
Why did we stop beating these fuckers on a regular basis ?

My bad. It was the second one I remember I think. Was that the one where Gray cleared everyone out to head the winner from Graydon's cross?

My mate's dad jumped up and smashed his head on the roof at the back of the old Witton Lane Stand when Gray put that one in. For some reason I thought that was 75/76.

My mate's dad, Ricky Hundley, was my hero. Took us to lots of home and away games and always stuck up for himself and us if anyone looked like giving us any trouble.

Every couple of years the council would paint the garages at the front of the houses in Chelmsley, and as soon as they were dry, Ricky would paint his claret and blue again.

'Fuck the Blues and the council' he'd say.

Percy,

I think Andy Gray absolutely knocked the shit out of Jimmy Nicholl for that header you refer to. He was so hungry and determined in the air he was inspiring to teammates and fans alike.

Your dad's mate sounds brilliant!

My mate's dad Pat. Yeah, he was brilliant. A good role model for the few young kids round our end surrounded by bluenoses. As was Andy Gray!

If you go in the club shop, there is a picture from those days featuring somebody with a chipped front tooth. Bottom right of Holte End.

Before the Old Bill knocked them out, one of my front teeth was chipped. A dirty greaser hit me in the mouth with a goldfish bowl at a fair during the eternal battle between Mods and Rockers, Good and Evil, Clean and Dirty etc.

If you watch the footage of the return leg at VP, when Paul Twat pushes rico over the advertising hoardings there's some B-losers in the trinity road stand wearing their colours.

Maybe the trinity is amore forgiving place than the sty.

Paul Tait's hairstyle that night, was a crime against humanity.

I had an aunt who used to go Villa home games one week, Blose the next in the 1970s, and she always brought the progammes round for me to look at. Theres a Blose programme, must have been 77/78 ish, the front cover is a close up of blose fans on terracing and right in the middle of the photograph is a Villa fan with his arms crossed and a claret and blue scarf tied round his wrist. Ive still got it somewhere.
