On Tuesday night we applauded the second half performance of the players in that that game.

This thread is not examining the competence of the players it is examining the competence of Lerner, Faulker and Lambert in deliberately declining to address the player problems we have and effectively forfeiting our Premiership status for reasons we are at a loss to understand.   It cannot be straight profit and loss accountancy.   The bald truth is that the fall from the Premiership will cost the club at least three times as much as it would cost to bring in players to enable the club to climb clear of danger.

There must be some other motivation for Lerner and Faulkner doing nothing.  Not knowing what is driving them is what is causing all the angst on here.

Maybe Joey Deacon was the number one target, until Faulkner realised he's dead

Can we at least allow any new signings to arrive at Bodymoor Heath before we decide they're shit?

Orient loanee who has a nodding acquaintance with Spurs?

If it looks like shit, smells like shit and tastes like shit.

Then it probably IS shit.

We bought a former Nantwich trainee who played for Crewe in the summer and he seems to have done okay
I like your optimism,in fact Im quite envious of it but we are second from bottom and we need new signings to do a little bit more than be okay.

I'm fine with Sylla signed, yes not remotely high profile but he is in exactly the position we needed a player and hopefully he'll do well. Dawkins however makes absolutely no sense.

Dawkins and Bowery will be fighting for the last tabard on the subs bench.

Can't criticise either signing as know nothing about them but on paper, it's hard to make a case for them being exactly what we needed.

Well yes but it's very hard to work out what that motivation could possibly be.

The most worrying thing for me is if Lerner is in a right old mess financially and is struggling to sustain bankrolling the club anymore. I'd much rather he'd just decided enough was enough for the time being but the cost cutting has been so quick and severe it certainly doesn't look good does it? and we all know what happened to last club that fell apart at the seams this quick, they still haven't come back now.

I still can't lay the blame at managers feet for the state we're in. No one would have sorted this shit out with the money and wages available.

One thing Lerner isn't is struggling financially.  He's a stirling billionaire, not just $ billioanire.  How much of that value is liquid and instantly usable is another matter, as is if he has funded us directly or through the Lerner family trust - I think he needs agreement from other family members to access these funds.

That's the only thing that could possibly make a modicum of sense - the trustees have blocked him.

And they do have that power, and may well use it if other beneficiaries object to the money being spent.  However, even in those circumstances, surely even some corporate trustee in Delaware can see that the value of the TRUST'S investment is going to get hammered if we get relegated.

It's the only idea I can come up with.

You'd also think that a billionaire would keep a few million in personal cash for eventualities.

I have no idea yet how billionaires arrange their financial affairs.

I work for somebody who is on his way to that level of financial standing, and know lots of other exceedingly wealthy people over here, and the one thing none of them do is let a multi-million pound investment go to hell in a handcart.  But then, most of them are self made men rather than people who have inherited their wealth and actually know their arse from their elbow.

One other thing about Simon Dawkins - didn't Lambert say he wasn't going to get bodies in just for the sake of it or something similar ?

As I said at the start, I don't know. Nothing in this, whether it's by accident or design, makes sense.
