Relegation would cost the club many times what a few million today could - we must get players in to give us a chance of survival.

So are you saying even if we could get someone in on the wages we have available to offer who would not really improve the squad we should just do it anyway because he needs to spend it? The money may be there to sign players, as it probably was for Sissoko but by all accounts we couldn't get near the wages he wanted. I don't think the right strategy should be to sign players just to add another person to the squad, we need guys who will improve us otherwise we'll just be left in the same position we've been in previously - paying out more wages on players that aren't good enough that could be put to better use elsewhere.

Im saying there are players out there available who can improve the squad and not cost a great deal- ie sharner , etc.
The squad is very poor , we must strengthen today .

I agree with you that the squad is poor for a Premier League squad, and yes we need to strengthen but how do you know how much a player like Paul Sharner demands? and how much we can afford to pay at the minute?

If you think we couldnt afford a player like sharner on loan then we might as well fukkin give up now.
Im sure lambert didnt want him - not that we couldnt afford him.

Who knows? Maybe we could afford him and wanted him, but maybe he just wanted to go back to where he was previously. The point I'm trying to make is that you consistently bring up the fact that we have money and have to spend it, but you appear to have no regard for how much we can actually pay in wages, which is probably a pittance by premier league standards.

Eastie, just take a look back on our panic buys over just the last six years, people brought in at the last minute just to get "someone" in.  They end up being mistakes more consistently than the planned ones, leaving us with tut we cant play or pay.  I still believe we are just two players from being an side that could scrape survival.  Scraping survival is not something im proud of, but thats where we are.

Scharner I agree with, as he wouldn't be too bad. Samba however will cost QPR up towards £20 million for a year, with fee and wages and that is fucking insane.

I agree with you. We need people in a couple of places as a catalyst.

Any news on more for us yet ? And is Bent going to fuck off ?

Think it will depend on qpr agreeing crouch fee .

Indeed.

Stoke want £3m, but 'arry wants to pay £10m.

From the outside, it looks as though Bent must be a troublemaker. It's been a while since we looked good with him in the team.

I think 'Arry has been told to fill his boots.  I'm pretty sure that Tony Fernandes has come out in the press and basically said that if the fans don't like him then he'll happily walk away.  As a very wealthy man I'm pretty sure that's code for 'if we get relegated, I'm walking away, my wealth is protected and the club will go into bankruptcy....I don't give a shizzle'.  If they stay up then he's a happy man, if they go down, he doesn't care.  That's just my take on it.

If we could effectively shore up midfield and the defence, then I'd argue this could easily be a midtable side.  It'll be interesting to see, presuming we do get the right players in, what our form from 1st Feb to the end of the season is like.
