Relegation would cost the club many times what a few million today could - we must get players in to give us a chance of survival.

So are you saying even if we could get someone in on the wages we have available to offer who would not really improve the squad we should just do it anyway because he needs to spend it? The money may be there to sign players, as it probably was for Sissoko but by all accounts we couldn't get near the wages he wanted. I don't think the right strategy should be to sign players just to add another person to the squad, we need guys who will improve us otherwise we'll just be left in the same position we've been in previously - paying out more wages on players that aren't good enough that could be put to better use elsewhere.

Riise (or Cavanda), Malouda and Hangeland or Ba would do.
If Bent leaves, get Guidetti in.

Just can't see an old head arriving with lambert in charge. What is his oldest signing btw? Papermache Ron?

This 'kid' thing bothers me a little.

OK, some where.  But KEA, Holman and Vlaar are all 25+ with international and Champions League experience.  Guzan he re-signed at something like 29 years old.

yeah but 'keeper's are different. You've got 5+ years left at 29. I just can't see him buying say a 31year old defender with no re-sale value at the end of his contract.

I'm not too sure as that wasn't what was called for in the summer, but is now.  Wages, as always, is probably a bigger factor there as a player in that position will want that 'last big payday', which is what we've got burnt on before and need to guard against.

Either way, we'll know later today!

Think so, harry probably wants her in the tea and cake role.

Im saying there are players out there available who can improve the squad and not cost a great deal- ie sharner , etc.
The squad is very poor , we must strengthen today . Lets be frank it wouldnt take much to improve our midfield , dale stephens , bridcutt, etc would be better than the likes of bannan and ireland.

Think it will depend on qpr agreeing crouch fee .

I agree with you that the squad is poor for a Premier League squad, and yes we need to strengthen but how do you know how much a player like Paul Sharner demands? and how much we can afford to pay at the minute? By the looks of the signings that Lambert has already made, it would be logical to assume they're mostly on peanuts.

If you think we couldnt afford a player like sharner on loan then we might as well fukkin give up now.
I would suggest lambert didnt want him - not that we couldnt afford him.
