I know sod all about the bloke Everton are signing/have signed but if he's a midfielder i'm guessing Fellaini will be off in the summer and they are planning ahead? 6 months ahead rather than 4 years when Bowery, Westwood, Lowton and Bennett will no doubt be world beaters.

I'm not disagreeing. If anythign I think it makes sense to bring in a couple of strong-willed and experienced players to teach the inexperienced ones.

If Lambert does have money to spend and he keeps saying he doesn't or plays down the amount to very small levels,
this would make Randy look a bit of a tight arse and Reflect on him quite badly.

If true you would think he would be seriously pissed of about it
So it's either not true
A big bluff from PL which RL knows about
Or PL wants the sack

A big bluff - but a very risky strategy which could backfire .
Hes admitted hes been in for players but not got them which suggests he has money .

Hes said himself he has money but not enough for a huge signing.
The transfer window is a game of cat and mouse , bluff and counter bluff - it becomes interesting on the  final day when the hand must be revealed.

Remember last summer when lambert had money and talk was if he couldnt spend it on the players he wanted he would not buy just for the sake of buying - he then bought westwood, benteke and bowery on deadline day and had a bid for dempsey too.

'During January Paul and the board have discussed a variety of players although nothing has yet materialised, which I know also can be frustrating as fresh players always give at least a sense of progress and optimism.'

Posted this on another thread, but Lerner saying this suggests he wants players in.

The Villa Park chief gave a rare statement - his last official press conference was in May 2010 - as the pressure grew on Lambert ahead of tomorrow's Premier League clash with Newcastle.

The chairman said: “In the time that I’ve come to know Paul what is clear above all else is his strength of character and belief in his approach to football. Fortunes can shift quickly in this game and a sense that one has it right can become grave doubt in a matter of a few games.

"The Villa board knew that with Paul we would begin to address the club’s multi-year lack of competitive stability by reshaping the squad with seven new signings in the summer.

"It has been rewarding at times this season although certainly frustrating as well, particularly recently. During January Paul and the board have discussed a variety of players although nothing has yet materialised, which I know also can be frustrating as fresh players always give at least a sense of progress and optimism.

"Finally, and on a very personal note, I would reiterate that Paul has achieved success at many levels of professional football and I believe, given support, he will continue to do so for us.”

I think KEA like a lot of foreign imports may need time to settle in. Some players gel into the premier league straight away, some others take time. We may well see the best of him next season.

That will be ok then , he will do alright against Tranmere , I think .

Indeed, actions now need to follow. However that has made it crsytal clear that money is available. It's up to Lambert to use it now.

Finally ... Tell that to lambshank!

Lets hope he spends it on the right players.

Let's hope whoever does the negotiations manages to get the right targets in, I very much doubt that's Lambert.
