I think KEA like a lot of foreign imports may need time to settle in. Some players gel into the premier league straight away, some others take time. We may well see the best of him next season.

This was very true of Petrov, so I', hopeful we may see something similar with KEA.  It's certainly too soon to write him off as some seem to have!

There is a big difference between choosing not to spend the money, and only having 'very little money' and buying cheap crap.

Could do worse than Danny Murphy (playing well at Blackburn) and Jamie Carragher on loan till end of season.

I would agree.

The pace of the game is something he is struggling with, getting close to his marker and pressing the ball.

I would certainly rather have him as an option than not.

Tell you who I think would be ideal for us right now, and apparently available... Paul Scharner. Always rated him: very competitive, tough, fantastic aerial presence, scores goals, v strong from set-pieces, good stamina, decent passer. Bags of experience at this level.

Imagine him in our midfield, alongside Westwood. Would do a good job - give him an 18-month deal. He'd get us together.

Mind you, I've read more than one reference to Villa paying £20k a week.... if that's true (and who knows?), no wonder we can't afford anyone.

PS Re Everton, I'd be asking them if we could have Heitinga on loan for the rest of the season.

I think you're right. The Championship's about his level.

Both would improve our side a lot.

Someone said earlier today hes off to sunderland - agree he would be a decent addition.

Thers have been plenty names mentioned on here this month and many have been signed by other clubs while we dally about waiting around - should have had 2 or 3 in well before now , even if that means paying a bit over the odds .
Lambert is playing a risky game and we are dropping points while waiting.

He said he was interested in certain players but they'd ended up at other clubs. That suggests that if he has got cash to spend it ant bloody much!

It suggests to me that the players concerned were offered better deals at other clubs.

Please Villa sign at the very least a defensive midfielder.

The frustrating thing is that we don't need that many players and a couple of decent loan signings would be totally adequate at this point.  Surely Paul Lambert has enough contacts to be able to call in some favours and get a couple of players in.

I am convinced we will sign at least two players.

When you have such a small budget and such tight wage constraints, you have to play brinkmanship. Come Thursday, there will be no other options left and our bids and offers on wages etc will be the best left for the players concerned.

I am convinced of this.

Me too. Its not ideal but its what it is.
If we fail to do even this though, I will be fucking furious.

Yes but its a risky strategy when in our position , we have dropped points and gone out of both cups - the players coming in on thursday should have been in two or three weeks ago- its a big gamble .

I think probably three will come in - lets hope they are quality.
