A mate of mines dad, is very close to doug ellis (that close that me and my friend traveled down to Norwich away in AV 1!) and they spoke to Faulkner at the bradford game about possible signings?
He replied that they were talking to a few players but were not far enough down the line of negations to say who they were.
Nobody knew we were signing Vlaar until he was seen outside VP?
who knows if we will sign anybody but behind the scenes we are at least trying (i think!)

I very much doubt Lambert thinks we'll go down. He'll be fighting to keep us up, it benefits him. He's had a shit season, but he damn well wants to stay up. He obviously wants to sign players but is being given no backing.

I want to support Lambo. I do. He's being hung out to dry by Lerner & Faulkner. I just can't get over Lambert's own failings though. Struggling against Chelsea, City, etc, is one thing. However losing to Bradford over two legs, that isn't Lerner's fault. That falls on Lambert.

They are convinced that we will stay up and once we do, this young team will grow in strength and achieve Everton like heights. We know it’s flawed, I suspect Lambert knows its flawed too, but for reason known only to Lerner and Faulkner, they don’t see it that way.
With policies like this, we really do deserve the drop.
Bollocks to it all indeed.

The reason is they're fucking idiots who know nothing about football, which frankly is remarkable having been involved with  it for a few years now. Their decision have ranged from naive to idiotic and now to negligent. They're ruining this club. As Damon says as well, they have left the majority of fans with no hope left.

I remember a post Mac made a number of years ago, just before Randy arrived. He said that the one thing we as football fans, be it Villa fans or Port Vale fans have, is hope. Hope is obviously measured very differently at some clubs than others, but it’s that hope that keeps us going down. If you take the hope away, what do we, as fans, have left?

all is not lost, you can still get 11/10 on us to go down.

perhaps Randy lumped £250 million on that at the start of the season

Obviously? What's this based on?

The fact we haven't so much as bid for another player and we are into the final week of the window?

Common sense and his quotes of "ideal world" he'd want to sign some players. Mixed with comments about we have little cash but he's trying.

Lambert's failing this season are evident, but if you tell me you honestly believe he doesn't WANT to sign anyone, I think you're wrong.

It seems that Randy and Lambert had an agreement that he'd have some money to spend in the summer but that would basically be it for the season. Lambert agreed, thinking that it would be enough to keep the team up and he could start to build something. But now we are in the shit.

Anyone take back Luke young? Experienced defender and can teach lowton/ bennett a few lessons. Would any-one take Downing back, or Quaresma as a free agent, decent names and could add some creativity that we are lacking. Tuesday Night just went to show how much we are crying out for a winger and how much we need to sell Bannan and get some height into the team.

Lambert doesn't play with width so we won't be buying any wingers. He prefers the 'getting donkeys to try and thread a ball through the eye of a needle' tactic of playing constantly through the middle or his tried and tested 4-0-6 hail mary.

"Henry Winter @henrywinter

Lambert has talked to Lerner about reinforcing #avfc. 'We don't just talk about the weather. In an ideal world, I'd love to get players in.'"

He's asked for backing but would appear to be getting none.

If that's the case then surely the job has become untenable for him.  He'd be better off resigning, making it known that he wasn't given the backing, have a few months off and then looking for a job in the summer.

Well then He really needs to take a wake up call. The game against Bradford was screaming for width, even some of the players were getting frustrated at it. He really was ridiculous to watch 4 strikers struggle in the middle against 6 defenders. If we don't get wingers then we really are going to be screwed royally under Lambert. Bannan can't be the man to pick the passes as he gets it wrong to many times, so if thats the case then we need a new experienced creative midfielder.

Some business done by clubs but not a lot, Yes we needed them in Jan 1st not 31st, but I do think come the 31st there will be probably 2 in full time and at least one more maybe 2 on loan, if not we are off to hell in a handcart.
