Did Lambert really say no one is coming in at the presser today??

According to Pat Murphy, yes it looks that way.

2 decisive early moves we may well now be at Wembley and 3-4 points clear. What the feck are we doing.

Preparing for relegation.

Clearly we are not doing that. Even the most cynical of us would have to agree that deliberately relegating the club makes absolutely no sense in any way shape or form.
My guess is that Lambert and his scouts are simply unable to find the required players given the constraints put upon him by Lerner and Lambert. The club have clearly decided to continue down this ludicrous Ajax route and our precipitous position does not seem to be swaying it one iota.
I honestly think that their belief in Lambert combined with arrogance and aloofness is the reason why it’s quieter than church mouse.

Love your town Neil but disagree with your post. They may not be directly planning relegation but are doing nothing to stop it.  I don't understand how they can ignore the £60m on offer to Premier League clubs next season and the losses from dwindling attendances and certainly from season tickets next season.  They will undoubtedly market them along the lines of "See the lions roar back to the Premier League" but I don't think it will wash with more than about 25k next season.

Randy has sent his plane to get Mr Messi...................

next in Mr Tidy, Mr Tickle and perhaps Mr Bump.

- Sorry I love the old ones.

You've got me thinking, Malandro. Maybe we are approaching this thread from the wrong angle. I mean, 24 days with little other than steadily more angst-ridden expressions of desperation. Maybe we should look at it in the way you are suggesting. So, if our current team is:

GK - Mr Clumsy
RB - Mr Muddle
LB - Mr Quiet
CH - Mr Bump
CH - Mr Slow
LW - Mr Topsy-Turvy
CM - Mr Nobody
CM - Mr Dizzy
RW - Mr Daydream
CF - Mr Lazy
CF - Mr Wrong
SUB - Mr Worry

Then surely we need to be bringing in the following, which should all be reasonably priced - £2.50 each, some may even be on half-price sale somewhere around town - and would imply little or no impact on the wage bill:

GK - Mr Mean
RB - Mr Brave
LB - Mr Noisy
CH - Mr Strong
CH - Mr Tall
LW - Mr Impossible
CM - Mr Busy
CM - Mr Clever
RW - Mr Good
CF - Mr Messi
CF - Mr Rush
SUB - Mr Mischief

Come on Randy, pull your finger out, man!

If that's the case then the club deserves relegation, the fans don't sadly but we don't matter.

I Southampton have had their Coutinho offer accepted at 10.2 million.

It all feels like it did in the final season of DOL at the moment, just without some of the good players we had then!

But what will his wages be?

Affordable for a club with lower gates and who we're in the third tier two years ago.
Define afordable.
Like QPR, S'ton are gambling on future earnings to stay up, in the light of the enhanced payments to the EPL next season.

It's an approach that Lerner - even with his now more cautious approach - should have adopted at the beginning of this month.

It is less of a gamble than lerner sitting on PF's face and doing nothing. If we go down it could be years before were back - take nzog, ireland, bent, given, dunne, benteke plus porbably weiman, gardner, vlaar out of our squad and replace them with inferior cheaper alternatives and nobody can tell me we have a team who could get us out of the chamionship. 3-4 years out of the top flight during the next few crazy money years and before you know it we are the next sheffield wednesday with the ding dong f'ing derby being played in league 1

Looks like no on coming in

Mean while Newcastle who we play next are getting another player in Mousso Sissoko ..

Given their hatred of us for laughing as they went down a few years back ,should they win Tuesday I am sure the atmosphere at the match is going to be toxic.

There you go, then, the ultimate act of stupidity from a board who have specialised in it for the last three years.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has appealed to fans to continue backing the team after they missed out on reaching the Capital One Cup final this week.

In his press conference he says: "We will go again and stick together. It's a big wheel and it always turns. No fan can be hurting more than me and we must win them back. No matter what happens we must stick together."

"We defended well for three clean sheets out of four just a couple of months ago and we must get back to that. The relegation issue doesn't frighten me, there'll be a lot of clubs worried about getting sucked into it. We won't shy away from the challenge."

In denial.

Mark Regan from Radio WM has also tweeted that Lambert said it's very unlikley they'll be people coming or leaving.

He can't complain? Well I fucking can. We are the only club down the bottom of the table doing nothing. The running of this club is an absolute joke, and like I said they deserve relegation.

"Henry Winter @henrywinter

Lambert has talked to Lerner about reinforcing #avfc. 'We don't just talk about the weather. In an ideal world, I'd love to get players in.'"

He's asked for backing but would appear to be getting none.

So it looks like the tried and tested ‘We will be ok, we just will’ policy is now fully in operation. I really don’t have the words for the sheer ignorance and arrogance being shown. Our supporters, who have been magnificent all season, really do deserve better than this.

Well if that's the case they deserve everything they get. Bollocks to it.
