I know if I was going to work abroad for a while, I would learn the language, purely to just to make my own life easier.

Pat Murphy understands there is money available, but Lambert doesn't want to pay over the odds.

MON had a definite blind spot with defenders.

Sold Cahill, inherited Laursen and bought Knight, Davies, Dunne, Collins and Beye.

Ok so Dunne and Collins were decent signings but he didn't have spunk a lot of money trying to find a defence. He was lucky to inherit Laursena and then pushed Mellberg out to right back.

Midfield players were his strength in fairness.
Yes midfield players who could  fit in  as defenders at right back!

Whereas if I was earning £250k a week I'd employ someone to make my life easier for me and not bother learning the lingo!

Lyon claim there is English interest in Lisandro Lopez and Michel Bastos

Ligue 1 outfit Lyon claim Lisandro Lopez and Michel Bastos are attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

The pair are reported to have been on the verge of making a move away from Stade Gerland for some time, with switches to Italy and Germany also mooted.

Lyon concede that there are plenty of teams monitoring the duo, with English clubs among them.

They are, however, keen to point out that no agreements have been put in place as yet.

On Lisandro, club chairman Jean-Michel Aulas told tuttomercatoweb.com: "It is not true that Lisandro has already said farewell to Lyon fans. There has been a misunderstanding.

"I am waiting on news from Italy and England.

"Juventus and Fiorentina? I know the presidents of both clubs and neither has contacted us directly."

On Bastos, he added: "I think he will leave in January.

"He is in contact with German, English and Brazilian clubs."

A game of brinksmanship between buyer and seller that will come to a head on 31st?  Sounds a likely scenario!

Yep, sounds that way and if so fair enough although it may be a case of having to pay over the odds for somebody or another.

Can't say I know anything about either player, but after checking on wikipedia Lopez is described as a winger/striker and seems to have about a 1 in 2 goal record.  Bastos is stated as a left back/left winger.

Not sure either position is a priority for us.

Plus they're both 29, so may not fit the 'Lambert mould'.

Both top players but neither central midfielders.
Doesn't mean we couldn't use them (Bastos would fit the wing back role a treat, obviously) but highly doubtful we're after them in my opinion.

Hope so.

Well put it this way, if there isn't we will be relegated.  I'm sure there's money available.
