MON had a definite blind spot with defenders.

Sold Cahill, inherited Laursen and bought Knight, Davies, Dunne, Collins and Beye.

Ok so Dunne and Collins were decent signings but he didn't have spunk a lot of money trying to find a defence. He was lucky to inherit Laursena and then pushed Mellberg out to right back.

Midfield players were his strength in fairness.

remember shorey ;)

Listening to Chelsea's Raimrez who can not speak english so obviously Makoun not playing for us has nothing to do with him not speaking english.

Yes it does.  The laws for work permits in the UK were changed between us signing him and him coming back from his year away.  As he left the country he had to re-apply but one of the changes was to introduce a language requirement to the process.  I think the problem is that, whilst he was in France for a long time, he doesn't have french citizenship, which means he has to come on a tier2 visa which has far more requirements.

It's a big failing on the part of the club that, when he was loaned out by TSM, we didn't insist on him keeping up lessons to learn English.  I'd hope we have stipulated that this time if we have any plans on seeing him play for us again.

Really Fletch? No, I think that would be a terrible move.

He's a much better player than when he was here previously and don't forget we evidently haven't got a pot to piss in, so he comes at the right price.

He's matured a lot and is considered to be perhaps the top centre half in the division. (Yes I know, the Championship)

MON trying to sign  Zarate

Either he's been brainwashed or then his chairman has forced him to buy foreign players and use their scouting network.

Thought Davies was pretty close to cracking it at Villa before that shoulder injury. I liked him, but I think he's got too much to do to win people over if he came back.

I'll be honest, I'd be focusing firmly on 1-2 central midfield players coming in, and look for a six-month loan deal for a CB. Someone who knows the PL well enough. A short -term deal would give us cover for the remainder of the season, protecting us against Dunne relapsing and Baker's recurring knocks.

One or two transfer links emerging today.... Newcastle in for Gouffran, apparently, but offering just £750k... and a freelance journo I follow on Twitter claiming we've had a bid rejected for Danny Graham (how reliable he is, I don't know....)

Signing a striker would be nuts.

Like I said before , a striker ?   why ?       we dont need one

Again, he hasn't left the country (from a work point of view) since the rules were changed.  I think the change was around last April, anyone with an existing work permit prior to that is fine.  I believe the Permit is linked to the company they work for though, so someone like Tevez probably couldn't transfer to another side in the UK.

And Ramires isn't relevant here anyway as he has a Portuguese passport so doesn't need a work permit.
