Pat Murphy has been twittering on that the Lescott deal is an absolute Dodo. Not sure if it is the usual Murphy sour grapes or genuine insight. Either way I would disappointed if he doesn't come  due to the fact i think it is the first time in my life I've been excited by signing a defender!

If we did get Lescott, we would be a danger from corners again. Benteke and Lescott together would be a handful for any defence.

Doesn't sound too hopeful

@patmurphybbc: Understand no chance of Joleon Lescott joining @AVFCOfficial this month.Believe he hasn't been discussed by Lambert & Lerner, who would 1/2

@patmurphybbc: 2/2 prefer permanent deals rather than loans

Talking of Birmingham born defenders at Citeh, where is Micah Richards? Can play CH or RB and is a threat at corners.

Very good player. He's injured I believe.

Seems to be injured more than he's fit the last 2 or 3 years. Shame as I think he's a cracking player.

James Nursey was just interviewed on TS. Interesting! He has been at BH today and reports that the move for Lescott is on. Stories of Mancini blocking Lescott's possible move to Villa he thinks are kidology, pointing out that Mancini hasn't played Lescott, so may be making noises more for the benefit of the MC owners, ie, to get a good price for him.

Difference in pay at the respective clubs - not a barrier to the move given deals in the past for Dunne and Ireland.

He was asked about why PL had frozen out Bent and after some ums and ahhs and clear unwillingness to answer the question, went into ecstasy about Benteke being so much better (makes his own goals and plays more with the team) as a player. Would PL sell?  No interest in Bent so far from anybody as far as he knows.

He's been injured since playing for team GB inthe summer. he's played a couple of games since but broke down again and isn't likely to be back until february. We've missed him as an option because he can be a bit of a beast going forward.

As for Lescott. I hope we don't sell him. He was an integral part of the meanest defence in the PL last year and has let no-one down when called upon this season. Not quite sure why Mancini and some fans appear to have a downer on him but his replacement Nastasic does look good.

We got a lot of stick for the amount we paid for Lescott but he was worth every penny and, if we do sell, and you can get him he'd be well worth £7-8m although, on past performance, we'd probably knock him out on a free.

He will not come for various reasons, some financial, some professional and some unsavoury (apparantly)

I believe he likes his kneecaps where they are (apparently). What I don't get about that rumour is Manchester is only 80 miles away.He wouldn't be that hard to find.He has a shop for fucks sake.

Maybe the "alleged perpetrators"  received some cut of his transfer fees or shop profits ?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Spurs have made Jake Livermore available according to the Times. Always been quite impressed when I've seen him, and the right age.

Livermore would be useful in our midfield actually, loan with perm agreed would be ideal.
