All this talk of Whittingham, Benoyoun or Dorrans is no use to us. They are more small midfielders which we've got plenty of already.

What we need is someone at least 5''10 tall and over 12 stone in weight.

It seems that we have a midfield full of 5''8 skinny guys who pass the ball backwards and cannot tackle.

He's on loan at Rennes I think.

Correct. 11 appearances and 1 goal so far for Rennes. I quite liked Makoun - remember his debut at Old Trafford? His passing/ball retention was excellent that night. He never really had much of a chance to show his worth, although he did himself no favours by not learning the English language which compromised his work permit. Can't believe the club didn't clamp down on this - I'm sure Steve Stride would've been wiser on that issue - I presume Faulkner sorted the paperwork?

Yep, played well that night.

Another £6m down the khazi then.

£6m of Randy's money yes. Sometimes that's forgotten.

I think you'll find it's partly ours as well.

But he backed the manager, something's he's accused of not doing from time to time.

That's okay 'cos tackling's been outlawed, right?

Say what you want about Houllier, but he made two really good signings in Bent and Makoun. Exactly what we needed at the time, it's just a shame their time at the club hasn't gone the way we all might have hoped.

Shame Gary Gardner got that awful injury to his knee. He's 6'2'' and strongly built - this could've have been a breakthrough season for him. Hope he's back soon - April I think? We've had rotten luck with injuries this season!

Rodwell is near fitness at City. I think taking him on loan with the promise of getting him back to full fitness, then wait for them to sign someone for a bajillion pounds and sign him permanently in the summer

I'm only a fan I know, but you'd think given the situation we're in that we'd have had the players we need lined up. Bed them in in the next two games ready for a run of league games, all of which are winnable.

Don't we have proper scouts these days. A centre half, and two 6ft 4 midfielders should have been here 2 days ago.

Keeping the faith is hard these days.

Understatement of the day.  I wish Lambo would get a bleedin' move on.

Don't see why midfielders need to be 6ft plus, the problem with our midfielders over recent years has been an inability to pass to a teammate, not a lack of height.

I was hoping for a couple of premier league/championship signings by tomorrow so they wouldn't be cup-tied.
