I didn't think Lescott would be remotely realistic.

If he's available, surely the likes of Everton and Tottingham would be first up.  Maybe the Redscouse too.   I'd still say he's actually good enough to be getting into that Citeh side.  Weird, how he's been discarded so quickly this campaign.

That said, if Martin O'Neill's Slumberland are in for him, we should at least give him an alternative.  Dunno if it's only a loan deal that's available, but even a short term deal would be useful to us at present. 

Frimpong on loan from Arsenal and Riise from Fulham would cover some of the biggest problem areas we currently possess too, neither would be killers wage wise.

There are options. Frimpong would be a great one if he is fit enough. Ramsey at Arsenal might not be a bad move for us either, play him slightly more advanced and he could get his confidence back I am sure.

I think you can. We had walker on half a season loan if I remember right? Got me questioning myself now on that one.

10 million plus sales was the figure. Couple of loans, couple of permanent for 5 million and 10 million goes a long way. Especially if you scout well. Lets say the beastly Ghanaian midfielder we were linked with comes for 2 million, we get Guidetti on loan, Keane on loan for 10 weeks, and Dawson for 6 million. Suddenly we are in better shape. Probably sign none of these, but it is an example that we can be better off with that much. Add another 12 for Bent and Dunnes wages going, and you could be in for 4 good signings.

I agree with you. A couple of loan signings will be key I think.

I met Gareth Barry at the Halesowen Town PetrovXI game and spoke to him about coming back in January as 'winning trophies was overated', he did say he wouldn't mind coming back to Villa at some point in the future but thinks not for a while yet.

As much as it hurt the way he left and all the shit with Liverpool the season before you feel that he loves the club. He just got frustrated at not winning things and saw other clubs making siginificant efforts. Especially when Man City came calling it was inevitable and we got the best deal we could for him. He gave us some of the very best years of his career and we just couldn't offer him the trophies he wanted.

I doubt that a paper knows how much there is to spend. In fact I rule the possibilty out completely.

When he's starting matches and scoring winning goals for the league champions, I think it's unlikely that either he or his club are likely to want that to happen.

On the subject of frimpong, while he looked a decent prospect 2 years ago  he hasn't really kicked on and since regaining fitness has been nowhere near the same player.
