I would seriously take Reo Coker on a free if his Ipswich deal is up

Did he say he still wants youth?

What were tonight's quotes?

Radio wm, believes his policy is the right way to go .experienced players guarantee nothing , the club has done down the experienced route and where has it taken them etc.

Oh shit.

What is that supposed to mean.  Has Paul Lambert said tonight that he would not bring experienced players in?  Or as usual, have comments been disected, words removed so as to read as something completely different to the original interview?

To paraphrase he said he wanted hungry players. That is the only definitive comment. People have taken that to mean youthful, but its very subjective.

Did you not see his press conference yesterday as well ? Seems pretty happy with his policy of signing players- I certainly from hearing him yesterday and tonight get the impression that he is not looking to sign older experienced players.

I hope his meeting with Lerner brings about a decision to spend big money and to buy quality and experience- if not i fear the worst.

He's barely started for them as he didn't have a pre season thinking a champions league club would come in for him after he left Bolton.

My pal told me today that Bent to Liverpool with Downing coming back was a done deal. I hope he's wrong.

I suspect that all his resources are set up to look for young and affordable players - which is quite right in normal circumstances - however my fear is that this injury and form crisis might catch him out.  I doubt he has a shortlist of experienced players who he will have completed his due diligence (i.e. checked they're "hungry" enough etc) and schmoozed their agents etc.

Maybe not the end of the world as his knowledge of established players should be pretty good, but QPR have proven that more than just experience is required.

Me too. Sell a goalscorer when we can't score goals, and get a total bottler back when we need leaders.

Agree Dante.  QPR signed a bunch of players renowned for being injured regularly (Johnson, Zamora) and having questionable attitudes (Boswinga).  You would hope that we would have more sense than that really.

I am sure QPR fans could say something very similar about our 'distinctive' transfer strategy.

I suppose they could Ross, although I'd still maintain Paul Lambert's signings haven't been that bad.

As for this coming window, I think we need players in the following positions:

CB (unless Dunne can step up)
DCM (need a physical presence in central midfield)
AM (need someone who can link the play and offer a goal threat)
Wide Player (really need a wide option who can create chances)

I also think we could do with a LB, even if it's only on loan until the end of the season.

Somebody told me that Lambert likes to keep the play narrow (hence the lack of reliance upon wingers and more of a focus on having three up top and using attacking central midfielders) so I doubt we'll be taking Downing back.

Me too. On a free it'd be worth it. Even his presence in the dressing room could be useful. If we brought him in, you'd hope we'd get him fit soon enough. It's not like we're a tactically complex side, so NRC could fit in easily enough doing what he does, and that's disrupting the opposition and driving the side forward with his running. He's a walk in captain too.

I'd like to sign 2-3 really solid pro's for the central areas in the side. We're spine less at the minute.
Is Scott Parker fit/available?
Unlikely he'd come, but an offer for Nolan might be an idea.

I wouldn't mind if we resigned Reo-Coker. He's a decent player & the sort of player we need at the minute, someone to battle for the ball in midfield and keep possesion.
