Diame from West Ham would be good, if this £3.5m get out clause in his contract is to be believed.

The clause is true, not confident he would come to villa though and I think he's injured now- would be a quality signing if we got him.

If the speculation is to be believed, Villa target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sneaks in at number 69 in the Guardian's top 100 footballers.

There must be some sort of mistake. I can't see Fabian Delph's photo in there?

West Ham are meant to be offering him a new £70,000 a week deal to wipe that clause away

Few interesting names in here: http://bbc.in/VFJOhw (via BBC Sport).
To be fair I don't see us getting anyone off of that list.
At least with Lambert though I think he has an eye for talent, it's just likely to be a lesser light though I'd take one signing this window if it was a real midfield general. We've been crying out for one for years.

Moussa Sissoko jumps out from that list, I'd guess a champions league club might be looking though.
Isco at Malaga looks a superb player, he's be a huge upgrade on Ireland.
They have us as interested in Gouffran, he'd be a good signing from what I've seen.
Having watched a few videos, the south americans they've listed all look like excellent players, Bernard in particular looks like he could be a superstar in the making.

Gouffran looks exactly the type we need off Benteke, tricky and pacey with an eye for goal.

I would be interested to see Hooper in the Prem too, think he would do well with Benteke. Striker wise I think we need a couple long term that are a bit different.

Just hope Lambert can be as active as he was in the summer and get some bodies in, we are struggling big time.

I'd go for Gouffran and Aubameyang to play either side of the beast and then look at getting someone like Christian Eriksen to play in behind them.

I think all 3 are reasonably realistic if we sell ourselves well as they'd all fit into the young hungry side we're building.

Add Sissoko or Wanyama in a more defensive role in the middle and we'd be set.

The good thing is, Gouffran and PEA can play all across the front line so we'd have a bit more versatility than we've got currently.

I'd say for about a year. What we're really missing in the middle is Petrov.

A 'midfield general' doesn't need to be 6ft 4 and built like Mike Tyson.

Agree entirely, and they both look to have a bit of pace. Our big problem going forward is lack of variety at the moment, and Gabby has not been enough of a threat. Weimann is good enough to play a role, but a couple of other options are a must.

Eriksen is about as realistic as expecting Ibrahimovic to rock up at Villa Park.

He's previously rejected moves to Man City and Zenit St Petersburg and I can't imagine that they were offering him peanuts.

We have lost internationals like Barry, Milner, downing and young and replaced them with vastly inferior players, losing both our creativity and shape - midfield needs sorting out more than any area.

Well he's out of contract in 18months so ajax will be looking to sell and has been linked to about 5-6 clubs in the last few weeks but has apparently been quite clear (I can't find any direct quotes though) that regular starts is the most important thing and that he'd prefer england or spain.  I think he's far and away the least likely of the 3 though.  He's a bit of a perfect world signing for me as I think he'll be one of the best players in europe within a couple of years.

Couldn't agree more... we have 4 front line strikers Benteke Wiemann Gabby & Bent. To that you can add Holman and Ireland. Only Bent is slated to leave, and his cover (Bowery) is already here. We also have Delfouneso, who has nailed down starting at Blackpool, to return. Unless someone else other than Bent leaves we will not be buying a striker.

His contract ends this season so would be very cheap but uncle Harry has already stated ' I like hangeland, he's a great player but he's fulhams player' - classic redknapp!
