Lambert has stated that if KEA is picked by Morocco for the African Nations Cup that we'll have to cope in his absence with the bodies we've already got. That doesn't sound hopeful for new signings.

After today could hardly say it would be a great loss.

Right we need a centre half, two centre mids, a creative player and a striker. At least 3 of those need to be the finished article.

Agreed. And they cannot come from the lower leagues either.

I'm betting they might well do.

That James Chester from Hull rumour is still doing the rounds.

Put simply. If we've got a transfer pot of say 20m (and i'd say that's about the bare minimum needed WITHOUT selling anyone) we MUST spend it on quality not quantity.

A few 7m type STARTERS are what's needed now, not 5 or 6 squad fillers. We already have enough filler to last us for the next 10 years

With Baker and Vlaar out, I would take any centre half if they could play the position right now!

More I think about it, the more Palacios if you could get him on loan with a view to buy would be a good signing in terms of us not getting bullied through the middle of the park quite so much. We were linked with a couple of big hard french midfield players in the summer, would not surprise to see a couple of players arrive from Europe. German or Scandinavian and they should adapt pretty quick.

All the players I saw in the papers today were all from the lower divisions .   Murray from Palace ,a lad from Millwall and someone from Crewe.

Why is it that supporters do not get a weekly injury update? it would be nice every now and again to know how Vlar and Dunne are coming along. Definately do not need any lower division players in January unless they are planning ahead for life in a lower division.
Sell Kea, is not up to it sell Bent, manager doesn't want him, sell Ireland flatters to decieve. That lot might fetch 15 mil add Randys 20 mil and that would get four players of Prem quality.Am i dreaming?

We're so far behind the big 5 it's embarrassing. We need to get more results from those games. A good win against a frankly shite Liverpool masked a lot. They're not the big club they used to be, so the last two games were a frightening fall to Earth.
We can compete well enough against the bottom 12, but lose any of them just as easily as winning. It's a very level playing field.
Better players is a must. We'll be safe, just about, but only by virtue of 3 teams even worse than us. The worry is that QPR may improve with signings.

We get linked with players whom the papers think we'll buy. There is no inside knowledge.

Villa signed two or three from the lower leagues, link them with more and people will believe ot. Don't we look clever.

Friedel out for Given looks like it could be a horrendous piece of business in hindsight.

Friedel is going to complete 3 years at Spurs (and we didn't want to give him 2 years, did we?)

Given is surplus to requirements 1 year into a 5 year contract, probably on similar wages to Friedel but cost £3.5m ontop.

Alright, I admit it. I'd take Huddlestone on loan for the rest of the season, I reckon he could do us a job. We have to get some fortune with a signing from Spurs eventually.

I thought it was a poor signing at the time and have never changed my opinion.  Not because Given isn't a good keeper but because the signs were there that he physically wasn't up to it any more, on a 2 year deal it'd have been ok but he'd never have agreed to that.

I did think we needed to replace Friedel though as he was also starting to struggle a little, I think the move to a side challenging for europe gave him a boost to make it through last year but this year he was struggling before Lloris came in to replace him.  Needed to be replaced with someone in their early 30s rather than mid thirties though.  Guzan always stood a chance of making the grade and in Seigrist we have one of the highest rated youngsters around but we did need someone for a couple of seasons.

I would take Huddlestone too.
