As cheltenhamlion says, it would have to be a big cash offer to lose Alan Hutton.

But we can afford it.

Think outside the box with this one though.
He goes and Wetherspoons trade in and around Birminghan will plummet, with the result of quite a few staff losing their jobs.

Is that what you want?
Cos' that's what will happen.

Hutton would fill the hole left by Maicon leaving

Oh yes - the Brazilian Cafu; the perfect replacement for Maicon.
I think that Cafu was the Brazilian Cafu.

Oops! Well I will post on here before I go to bed. Of course, I meant the Scottish Cafu.

No but McLeish probably thinks Scotland have their own version.

Kone played well for Wigan today and has scored a few this season.

Worth a punt if Bent goes?

Kone's always been rated, and he's done well this season. I imagine he'd cost a few quid though.

Kone is a good player, but I suspect our days of being second time buyers have passed. There'll be others out there.

Kone misses so many chances.

Just to add a few extra zzzzzz pages to the thread (from the beeb gossip column):

"Manchester City are planning an overhaul of their player recruitment policy as they look to cut down on a wage bill that has risen above £200m-per-year. Defender Joleon Lescott, 30, midfielder Gareth Barry, 31, midfielder James Milner, 26, striker Edin Dzeko, 26, and striker Mario Balotelli, 22, could all be sold to help the drive."

If it's true that Diame at West Ham has a £3.5m get out clause in his contract, he'd be worth bringing in.

I'd take Milner back in a flash and Barry, maybe, if the price was right.  None of the others though.
