I read in the Grauniad that Chelsea are offloading Sturridge to Liverpool in jan. wondering if they are considering a cheeky crazy bid for the  beast (or bent more realistically)

Chelsea've been linked with a guy in France who is referred to as the "Junior Drogba" - can't recall his name right now.

Anybody know anything about Chris Woods , Millwall striker on loan from the Baggies?

Scored 2 against Brighton last night and is regarded highly by Gus Poyet....worth a punt at a mil?.

New Zealand's best player!

Against uefa rules for a player to play for 3 teams in a season I believe so no chance of benteke leaving.

Bent would score for fun in that Chelsea side though.

I dont think there's any chance of Benteke leaving in the next two seasons period. If that happened Villa may as well pack up and fold. The fans have a new hero, the club have a marketing vehicle and more importantly somebody to score the goals we need to get up the table and rake more coin in/win silverware etc. If they threw that away too soon it would be criminal stupidity. Also, there would be rioting.

No chance.

I agree to an extent, but (hypothetically speaking) if he angles for a move, what then?

He doesn't get it. Not before it suits us in some way.
There's nothing in it for us in the near future. Yes, if he maintains his form for a couple of years and we arent challenging for something then it will be diificult to keep him. Especially when £30m offers start coming in.

Until then, lets just enjoy him. The big boys (before we join them again) will be after more famous, expensive fish in the meantime anyway. The likes of Villa, Falcao, Llorente and so on.

Actually, lets sell Bent and go and put a Bid in for Llorente.

They're clearing the way for Falcao.

Or Sturridge.  Some media reports suggesting that he is available for £12m and his wages are around around £60,000 a week.  Probably would be affordable if Bent leaves and he could also play as the wide option in a 4-2-3-1.

I can see some big changes ahead at Chelsea,  total rebuild.   Might, just might see Cahill coming back.

Definite no to Sturridge for me. If that sort of money was available for one player, I'd trust Lambert to spend it much more wisely.

Vey unlikely. I'd rather put our faith in Baker, Vlaar and Clark anyway with perhaps one other, cheaper option coming in. Cahill would cost a fortune. I also dont see him leaving Chelsea either.

Sturridge, well I'm a fan of his ability and wary of his attitude but disappointed he's going to Liverpool (if he is). Likewise Ince.
I think that's (potentially) two good signings for Liverpool to be honest.

But having said that, the system we play or look likely to use most is perhaps not compatible with Ince. An out and out winger I daresay is not on the cards for Lambert as he likes midfielders who cover inside and out rather than specialists.
Sturridge could conceiveably play up front partnering Benteke but would probably want guaranteed starts and with Weimann developing so nicely alongside Benteke I wouldn't want that.

Anybody coming here will have to be part of a squad and earn their place or they go elsewhere.
There's also a value for money issue and with that in mind I reckon Lambert will be casting his net in Europe and the lower leagues and more power to him.

Sturridge has an attitude problem IMO, and anyone who tries arrogantly dinking penalties over goalkeepers gets short shrift from me unless they are infallible penalty takers.

Fair point Ger.  If we were to spend that kind of money on one player then I suppose we have more pressing priorities than bringing in a forward at this time.  I rate Sturridge though and think he will make an impact given the chance to play regularly and in his preferred position as a striker.
