Not sure who fits the bill but I think a "Luc Nilis" is needed. We were so lucky to get him and so cursed to lose him so soon.

Who do Belguim use for Benteke's striking partner ? Could we make an move for him in January ?

It's either Benteke or Lukaku on their own up front, no partner. The players he holds the ball up to include Mertens, Mirallas and Hazard, of whom Mertens might be the only realistic option.

There's also Nacer Chadli of FC Twente, who can play left or right wing and even just off the striker, not as prolific as Mertens or Hazard, but he's taller, 6ft+ and more powerful. Also Benteke's former strike partner Jelle Vossen is having a blinding season with Genk, 12 goals in 17 league games, 17 in all competitions.

That's him. Was thinking earlier who it was.

I think we'll be buying more of the same. Young, hungry and cheap.

During the summer I thought Stephens was the preferred choice and when Charlton wouldn't negotiate the price, we dropped out interest and went and got Westwood. So have to wonder whether it was a case of one or the other; or whether we might sign both.

Incidentally, has anybody keeping an eye on Charlton to see how Stephens has been getting on?

If he wants another young hungry meidfielder, he should look at 17 yr old Will Hughes at Derby. The radio commentators  on Saturday were eulogising about him.

He's very talented, but I think it might be best for all concerned if he stayed where he is for now. The way Westwood and Lowton have taken to the league reminds me of Jonathan Trott when he first came into the England Test side: he'd had the years to learn his trade under less pressure, to work out his own game and was ready for the step up, not overawed by it.

I heard Wenger talk about why he doesn't like doing that. He says it can disrupt a young player because these young guys are shy and don't come out of their shells as much as if they have one consistent environment to develop in. To be fair though, he loans out as much as anyone, though it does tend to be the ones he doesn't rate as much.

Developed him as well. He's like some mad self-destructive artist, spending years and years crafting brilliant sculptures only to smash them up and start again for no reason.
