Apart from a few weeks of Keane, maybe Frimpong on loan, a look at Sturridge if he is not getting games under Rafa on loan might be worth a shout.

In seasons past there were always a few players not getting games at the top sides that sides like us would be linked with - Darren Gibson last season ending up at Everton for example, or a Jenas or 1-2 players doing well at relegated sides that are ready to be bought.

How is that Williams kid doing at Boro that we were linked with in the summer? Is Palacios still not getting a game at Stoke? Looking for obvious targets is not simple anymore. I think Germany and Holland are more likely to be raided than our league.

Anyway, Sturridge is a good shout. May be difficult but the best things always are. He'd be great as one of the wide forward players outside of Benteke. Say... Zaha or Ince on the other side? Laverly.

Lambert as good as said we'll be bringing players in in January. if so I'd expect him to be after experienced players.

I wouldn't put money on it. I think young and hungry will still typically be the order of the day.

If there is one criticism I would make of Lambert's acquisitions it is that he has taken the 'hungry' bit a little too literally.

I would prefer a couple of suitably nourished midfielders. Nothing Richard Dunne class of course, just with enough beef one their bones to stand their corner in the push'n'shovefests that pass for top flight football nowadays.

As for others, Keane and Frimpong would be good. He was also at a recent Stripeyfilth game watching someone or another. Could be an interesting January.

I believe most la liga club are in financial trouble and apart from the obvious big 2 there are plenty of quality players out there but they don't appeal to G14 clubs. We need to use our scouts to spot players from La Liga and Bungeliga (German League) to improve the team. There are bargains to be had but we need to look for them. We can't keep spending 8 millions pounds on a player.
