over 70 million on agents , what a waste

It really does amaze me how much money an agent can make for doing what appears to be a very easy job.

(happy 5,000th post to me)

A swift kick in the bollocks, although I have this weird image in my head of all the mods coming down to my house with a massive cake.

If we're going to look 'left field' how about Torres?
Doing nothing at Chelsea, we could certainly offer him something different  :)

He'd offer us absolutely fuck all.

Torres is still quality, imo.
Something has obviously gone wrong somewhere at Chelsea, the right team would get plenty from him.
Personally I'd love it to be us, if we were brave enough.

I would sooner keep Bent than have Torres at the moment.

I fear we will go after Doyle in Jan.

Just throwing it out there but Riise may be being considered as part of a swap with Bent (extending the "it's a done deal" theory).  I actually think he'd be pretty handy for 18-months or so, but beyond that could fall into the Heskey wage drain category.  He's not a typical Lambert signing but, even Lambert must fancy a bit more experience in the squad and if he's offered cheap so Fulham can afford Bent then maybe there's some truth/logic in it.

A mystic Kev said:

Jol actually mentioned him by name a few weeks back - so there could be something going on in that regard.

I'm not sure they could afford the full whack though (we should be looking in excess of £12 million). Maybe cash and one of their players would be the way to go.

Riise would fill the gap we have at Left Back -and Fulham might be keen, when you look at the average age of their squad now. For us, we need a few older heads (but decent with it, not dross like Hutton).

I haven't discounted the possibility that Bennett might come good in time, but I'd be more comfortable with the idea of him as back up for the next season or two.   We've looked weak down that side even prior to his brainfreeze v Norwich.

Not that I'm sold on Riise.  I'd be quite happy with a competent left back of any sort, truth be told.

I will check out these Lescott stories with his cousin. I won't see him for a couple of weeks though.

Doesn't one of his cousins (or an extended member of the family)  post on here?  I forget who, mind.

I'd far rather give Bennet and/or Stevens (who has looked increasingly comfortable) the time to develop than sign some washed up poker failure for a last hoorah.  We should stick with young talent and trust that they will develop as a team as opposed to signing over the hill prem cast offs.  I'd rather go down trying than continue to supplement the lifestyles of out dated losers.

Bennett needs a run without injury. Poor kid has not been fully fit since signing.

Maybe he's a bit injury prone, what were his appearance stats like at Boro?

That undisputed first yellow against Norwich when he lunged in recklessley was a fine imitation of Warnock.

I'd like to get in another left back in January tbh.

No problem on the other side as I think Lowton is fantastic and Herd and Lichaj are decent back up.
