I think the way for us to go in Jan is to bring in on loan the experience we need and Risse would fit that bill, also someone like Frimpong, not offer what could turn out to be journey man ala MON style 3 year contracts on 60 k a week and as has been said allow the scouting team to bring in the young and hungry players for the not to distant future in case the experience turns into a Hutton.

I would love us to go for Frimpong. At Charlton till January rebuilding his fitness, but that first half at their place he was bloody incredible. Probably one of the most telling contributions of our season was Petrov taking him out. It allowed is the space to play and completely killed Wolves. Would fit perfectly into our current squad and system, and has more energy than any of our current lot.

Regarding Riise. A quick Google says he has 18 months left on his deal, so logic says we'd either have to increase his wages or offer him an extension on that to get him here.

His two clubs previous to Fulham were Roma and Liverpool so you'd imagine he'd be on a fair wedge, and he's 32 now so a 30 month contract would see him well into his 35th year.

Saying that, he does seem to look after himself. But it's the sort of signing we're in need of, I think. He's certainly better than Bennett, Stevens, Lichaj or Baker.

Frimpong would complement Westwood very well i think.  Or indeed in a three with Westwood and Bannan/Ireland.

Just throwing it out there but Riise may be being considered as part of a swap with Bent (extending the "it's a done deal" theory).  I actually think he'd be pretty handy for 18-months or so, but beyond that could fall into the Heskey wage drain category.  He's not a typical Lambert signing but, even Lambert must fancy a bit more experience in the squad and if he's offered cheap so Fulham can afford Bent then maybe there's some truth/logic in it.

I've often wondered which club Bellamy chose to brain Riise with. Something like a seven iron seems about right. Not too long a shaft.

At Liverpool he was on something like 89k a month after tax. His wage slip was in the paper.

I also remember him saying we came in too late for him before he went to Roma as the deal was already done.

I wonder if it is worth an enquiry for Connor Wickham. One of the most likely talents to emerge from the championship in recent years and floundering to say the least outside O'Neills favoured 11.
