Quality is quality. Who cares how old or who they are? We need to improve short term as well as build.

La la la Keano will do for me.

Some of you are worrying me now - if Keane is the answer, I dread to think what the question was  :o

Seconded

Keane scored some important goals for us, but he spent most the time stood there, flapping his arms and whining because weren't thinking like him.

Would this be different under Lambert's style? I dunno, but I think we need more than a Keane for 5 games.

So do I. Keane and more.

For those of you wondering about the question, it's: who could we get to join in spite of our league position and make an immediate impact, add much-needed experience, score and create goals and affect for the better the way we play by giving on-field leadership and instruction to our young players?

If only there was somebody who'd done that before at some point in our recent past when we were in need of much the same qualities.

Yup Diame would have been a great signing

I was working with a Wigan season ticket holder at the back end of last season, and he was absolutely raving about him, said he was the best player at the club by a mile.

Actually he wasn't playing much for Wigan at the end of the season but from what I'd seen he certainly has the raw ingredients to be a good player.

That was put down him not signing a contract.

Their good run did coincide precisely with his time out of the team though.

It might just have been that their best player wasn't a suitable fit for the style they wanted to play (something that we seem to be seeing at the moment) but they only started winning when he was dropped.

I would take Keane back like a shot. Great form this season and fitter than last.

Are we still linked with the Danish holding mid? Can see a centre back coming and Clark doing a stint at left back too.

The one position i think where Clark is weakest is left back.

Clark is no left back he was destroyed @ Wolves when he played there last season by Knightly or was it Jarvis.......

Desperate for a quality centre back and midfield lynchpin.

Think we need a LB,  a CB  a CM and a decent wide player/ winger.

Keane (or one of the other American based players)  on a short term deal would be a bonus, but I'd see the first four as a priority.

If that means jettisoning some of our lot -even if it's loans just to get them off the wage bill- so be it.

Maybe out of some sort of weird loyalty Milner would come on loan for the remainder of the season.
With City (pretty much) out of Europe and therefore with less games, plus more signings in his position he could be surplus to requirements and this could be some sort or karma balancing move from his perspective.

For some reason I'm sure Milner will rejoin Villa at some point. Not least because his wife and in-laws are Villa fans and he has an executive box at VP.

Please let that happen. Loved Jimmy  Milner.

If we could splash 15 million on one player in Jan, the 09/10 central midfield version of Milner would see me about as happy as it gets.
