Well, one can mock, but someone who points a lot could be invaluable. B-lose came up with, as usual, an unspeakably shit team with very little top flight experience in 2002/03, and owed their survival almost exclusively to that twat Savage, who more or less showed the entire rest of the squad exactly what to do. Well, him and Dugarry.

Keane's only a year older than when he lit us up for a few games last year, and will be good for the odd ninety minutes, the odd hour, and the odd twenty minutes off the bench. He has technique, experience and an eye for goal. If we're going to go for him though, we don't want to be hanging about 'til the end of January like last time. Let's get the full two months, or longer if possible, this time.

Wouldn't mind a decent winger, but it seems Lambert isn't interested in that position.

I agree. A lynchpin to be relied upon to win the ball from the opposition and move it on to the more attack minded players. When I say win the ball back, I'm not necessarily talking of a tough tackler ala Nigel De Jong, someone who can intercept well and isn't scared of the ball.

I thought it was commonly accepted that Lerner made more funds available for Lambert in the summer. We had a bid for Dempsey accepted but he chose not to come. Lambert made the decision to buy young, lower-league players. No doubt we have a wage-ceiling in place but as regards transfer fees I wouldn't worry too much in January. It's up to Lambert to get the experience to go with the yoof he already has.
