We need more than one player i think Clampy. Think we should be looking for at least 3. A couple in midfield and another defender.

True, but the signing of that fabled 'midfield general' would improve us hugely.
I agree totally and hopefully there are eyes and ears on the look out for possible targets so deals can be done quickly and with the minimum of disruption. They will have to come into the team ready to play immediately, no time to " Settle in ."

Well, that might be stretching the optimism a bit far, but I agree that they have to be of the quality where they're settling into the club, not the standard of play expected of them.

Oh sure, i did'nt just mean one player, i just meant that if there was a player he wanted for say £12m, i think the money would be there for him.

It's a pity Lambert dose'nt seem to like playing with wingers because Malouda at Chelsea can't seem to get a game for them at the moment. He's 32 though but he can probably still cross a decent ball.
Malouda would be great, but like you said earlier we have to be carefull of the wages, i think Malouda would be outside what we would be willing to part with for wages. Would make a massive difference to us though.

Yep wages would be a sticking point, unless he came on loan initially. Then again, being 32 he might have to accept a drop in wages eventually anyway. Just a thought.

Agree 100% . He is the sort of quality we should be looking at and a loan deal might suit both teams.

Even at 32 I can't see Malouda wanting to come here, even if Chelski were willing to deal. There's plenty of clubs in pushing for Europe in the French and Italian league, and few Prem sides who'd happily take him. And pay him more.

I don't think we'll be seeing any frees coming in between now and January a la Pires. I reckon Lambert would see it as undermining his whole strategy. I also think he won't splurge in January, for the same reason. It'll be a couple of unheralded players, possibly not from the PL.

The player I think we need? Kevin Nolan.

Kevin Nolan would be an excellent signing , sadly I think we have more chance of getting Coleen than Kevin.

Nolan is the kind of 'ilk' we need.

I wonder if Tim Cahill would fancy keeping his fitness up with us like Keane did last season.

With the midfield balance tipped too far towards flair players, and hence the requirement of a hard bastartd to do the donkey work, I'll open myself up to ridicule by suggesting bogeyman Karl Henry.

I also thought we should have re-signed NRC, so I'm obviously not all there.

I see Newcastle are signing Moussa Sissoko on a free .  That's the sort of player we need .

I don't think we need a 'hard' player as such, but somebody who can both win the ball and distribute. El-Ahmadi can't pass forwards, Bannan can't pass simply, Ireland is always one pass ahead and Delph can't pass, full stop.

Why would Phil Neville come here?

One last big pay off ,one last challenge -still got a bit of mileage in him, no longer a regular at Everton and quoted qpr a price last season which qpr didn't match  -just a name thrown in jj, general discussion in which we were asked to throw in  3 names we could realistically get to improve our chances of survival- feel free to name some.

He's started every game for Everton this season. Been in the North West his entire life. I can't see him leaving that for a relegation scrap with us.

If the money is right who knows , just a name thrown into the hat of the sort of player we need who may be gettable that's all, please feel free to throw a few names in as well.
Not sure if Neville is exactly the right player (though he might be) but he's definitely the right type of player. Experienced, a fighter in the heart of midfield

So you think that Thomas Hitzlsperger, deemed good enough to sign for fifth placed Everton isn't good enough for us but Nigel Reo-Coker, deemed only good enough to sign for bottom of the Championship Ipswich is someone we should have signed?

Okay then.
