One thing which is pretty clear is that our confidence is very, very fragile.

It was up against Swansea, but it took an equaliser today and it went down the toilet.

God, there's some bad vibes here: yes, they've conceded sloppy goals and I think that PLambert has perhaps over-subbed the team in the second half but FFS we're in the process of a complete re-build here. It isn't going to happen overnight and I think that we will get much better through the season.
Why not give the manager the benefit of the doubt rather than immediately get on the doom-loop.

Got to agree. We need to remember that this is very much a team in progress, made up of a lot of young lads, many with no top league experience, mistakes will be made, and i'm sure Lambert will let them know about it. Move on from this, take the mistakes and poor play, and build on it this week, to improve against west brom

Haven't been impressed with Benteke. His movement has been shit, and he's spent far too much time standing still. At least Heskey got back and defended.

Have to agree, I've seen absolutely nothing from Benteke today.

I'd also add that, for all the comparisons to James Milner last week, Holman might do the working hard, running around bit similarly, but he doesn't really seem to do a great deal more.

Really? A negative comparison with Heskey after one full game and a scoring substitute debut. Bloody Hell....

Eh?

You missed the bit where I said I'd seen nothing of Benteke "today".

To be fair I was more referring to the previous comment and when you said 'have to agree' then I took it to mean agree with the whole statement. Just a bit pissed off with how quickly people default to slagging the players. As you said earlier its going to be up and down so we have to do our bit and try and stay positive and believe in what the manager's trying to do. Just my opinion...

Poor performance. Can't really tell of this is the norm or a blip. But whatever happens we're going to be pretty inconsistent this season

I am worried about our midfield a bit though. I've not been that impressed by kea's ability to get a grip of a game so far.

The real stand-out difference is that in the first half, we were first for every ball, and sweating blood to get it back when we didn't have it.

Second half, we've bee nothing like that.

Don't get what Holman actually brings to the side? All I see him doing is prancing around that big arms flailing run of his, with zero end product.

I got lambasted for saying that last week, when apparently he was the new James Milner.

The Swansea game is the only game I've not seen him play this season (away on hols), but I've yet to see him add anything to the team, especially today compared to Ireland and Bannan who were both subbed.

The new James Milner.... Do me a favour?!

As for Benteke, I think he's done ok. First 90 mins of Prem football, so he's gonna still be getting his fitness up, and he's had more positive attempts at goal than 'Benty' - And that pass to Bent was sublime!

In Lambert we trust. We'e going to have a few games like this all season and Southampton aren't as bad as we thought.

Work in progress and Lambert will make sure all of them were not good enought today.

Fucking dire today and EXACTLY like last season but with different players.
What total cobblers.
Last season, Southampton would have scored 6 or 7 against the TSM team. The effort today has been pretty good; yes, we've given the ball away, yes we've given the oppo too much space; yes, we look naive.

But they still look to get forward and have shown more this season than all of last.
